GLASS TIGER IN CONCERT:
Canadian rockers Glass Tiger are a fierce five-piece band that's been hammering out the hits since 1986, and they sound as fresh as ever nearly 30 years later. Lead singer Alan Frew still knows how to command the stage with his sharp, impeccable vocals and rich guitar strumming while his bandmates shred out solos on hits like "Someday" and "Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)". With their popular alt-rock tunes and on-point musicianship, Glass Tiger always brings the house down when they perform for eager ticket buyers on their can't-miss tours.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
The members of Glass Tiger – singer Alan Frew, keyboard player Sam Reid, guitarist Al Connelly, bassist Wayne Parker, and drummer Michael Hanson – first got together in 1983 and performed under the name Tokyo. They earned their big break a year later playing for sold-out crowds as an opening act for Boy George and Culture Club on tour. They attracted attention from several labels at the shows, eventually signing to Capitol Records and changing their name to the current moniker. They earned widespread acclaim with their four-times platinum-selling debut Thin Red Line, which featured the smash hit "Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)" – a song that peaked at No. 1 on the Canadian Songs chart, earned the band three Juno Awards, and launched them to international stardom. Glass Tiger continued to enjoy success with their follow-up releases Diamond Sun (1988) and Simple Mission (1991), which they supported with extensive touring throughout their native Canada. After a hiatus that saw the band's members pursue various other projects, the group got back together in 2003 to perform local shows. Although the band has had a lineup change since reforming with new drummer Chris McNeill, Glass Tiger still knows how to rock a crowd and deliver a hit-filled live show.
Great sound in a great little intimate theater. I enjoyed the little stories and jokes between the songs.
They sounded great! Love them!!! Nice venue for it too
One of the better concerts I’ve been to in a long time. Will definitely see Glass Tiger again. Alan Frew still looks and sounds amazing 🤩the rest of the band was good too. I enjoyed singing along to their songs. The Vancouver Playhouse was a fabulous venue! It was small, intimate and cozy. It was also nice there was a short intermission between the two sets of songs.
Excellent experience Like a well oiled machine and show, everything went smoothly From getting in Coat check Drinks Seats And we didn’t have to wear earplugs so The ears were okay tans not ringing the next day
I go to every Glass Tiger concert that they have near Vancouver. They always sound great and play all the hits plus this time they added some of the holiday hits from their latest album. I have been a Glass Tiger fan since they first played here in 1986. If you get the chance to see a truly amazing Canadian band, go! You will it be disappointed.
They were really good. You can tell that Alan is a really good person who is totally down to earth. His stories were nice to hear. His voice is on point. The band was on point. The venue was awesome for a concert. Vancouver playhouse. So good. Played all the songs i knew. I would go to see them again. Great value.
Concert was absolutely amazing. They sound just as good as they did in the 80’s. Lots of interaction with the audience, we had a such a fun time. Will definitely be going to see them again at the next opportunity!
They are awesome back in 1986 at Calaway Park. First one I really remember. This time around they are spectacular. They sound same back then to now. I will go again when they come back to Calgary.
Glass Tiger never disappoints, always put on a great show!! Alan Frew, still has the pipes and the show was outstanding!!
Glass Tiger always puts on a great show. Vocals are clear and music is so well done. Great performers who take you back to relive the 80's.
