Bettye LaVette at the NAC
National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa
I went to the concert with an open mind. I heard she was going to be covering Dylan songs from her latest CD. Although I was only familiar with one of the tunes it did not detract form the concert she was outstanding, her expressive vocals, and wonderful banter in between some of the material was very touching. The band was tight and professional always playing in the pocket, supporting her beautifully. All in all it was a magical evening. A real professional vocalist singing some great songs. What else could an audience ask for?

Miss LaVette always seems to embrace the crowd. We always leave her shows with a good feeling and a smile She did it again. No matter what songs they play .the band was right on the new keyboard player is a lucky guy...they were tight.

Bettye Rocks
Jazz Cafe At Music Hall - Detroit
Bettye LaVette created and incredible work of art with Dylan’s stories. Her interpretations were powerful and full of soul. Detroit Jazz Club provided the intimate stage on which Bettye wove her magic. It was such a gift to witness one of R and B’s greatest icons. Verve records is a great home for LaVette’s tome of music. Check her out if you get the chance. She’s HOT!!!

Bettye Lavette- A star about to go into super nova
Burton Cummings Theatre - Winnipeg
When buying tickets to the Winnipeg jazz festival we always review the artists that we want to see and usually buy tickets for artists that we think will put on a great show. Seeing Bettye Lavette live was certainly one of the high lights of the 2013 jazz festival. You can feel the emotion in every song she sings and her vocals are amazing.

Bettye Lavette - powerful
Winter Garden Theatre - Toronto
Bettye returned to her Toronto fans in spite of travelling problems due to Hurricane Sandy. She considers her fans and we appreciate that. Bettye needs to tell the band not to play over her voice. We came to hear her, and couldn't. Other people I know said the same thing. BAND WAS TOO LOUD! Tune it down guys. You are the backgound, not the headliner.

Simply Amazing
Winter Garden Theatre - Toronto
Getting out of NY area with the challenges left behind by Sandy would have had most people cancel but not Bettye. We were told her journey started at 6am. that day so no one could fault her for starting a bit late. It was well worth it from beginning to end. The saddest part was when the concernt was over. This is truly an amazing performer who did not disappoint. And where did she get all that energy from? It was Simply Amazing.

Amazing show!
Wintergarden Theatre - Toronto, Ontario
It took her all day to get from storm ravaged New Jersey to Toronto, and thank goodness she made it! Bettye LaVette's performance at the Wintergarden Theatre on November 1, 2012 was simply amazing. The power and soul in her voice should have made her one of the biggest stars to ever come out of Detroit. Although some bad luck stalled her career earlier on in her life, we are so blessed to have finally "discovered" her! Whether she was putting her own twist on Neil Young's "Heart of Gold" or singing one of the many songs from her newest cd, Bettye did a 2 hour set that had everyone in the audience cheering. I would go hear her sing again in a heartbeat -- and would highly recomend her to fans of R&B, blues, soul and simply incredible vocal performances!

What a voice and what a personality! This is a beautiful, hilarious, confident and sexy woman, with pure soul in her voice. I actually eked out a few tears during her cover of Neil Young's Heart of Gold. Her live performance is infinitely better than her albums (if you can believe that!)...she holds nothing back. It's all raw emotion. She lives in New Jersey and was affected by Hurricane Sandy so I am grateful that she made it in to Toronto for her show. Her banter in between songs was so funny. I will be a fan for life, and if she ever comes back to Toronto, I am upgrading to better seats. Thank you Bettye for everything you share with us through your music. Please come back to Toronto soon.
