BC Lions History

The BC Lions are the fifth oldest active franchise in the Canadian Football League (CFL). Founded in 1954, the Lions have made 10 appearances in the Grey Cup championship game and have won the cup six times: in 1964, 1985, 1994, 2000, 2006 and 2011. The BC Lions have claimed the Grey Cup twice on their home turf, including their notable 1994 victory over the former Baltimore Football Club, which prevented a U.S.-based team from hoisting Canadian football’s top prize. The Lions logged the CFL’s second-longest streak of playoff appearances, running for 20 consecutive seasons between 1997 and 2016. Throughout the BC Lions’ history, roster members have claimed 14 Most Outstanding Rookie Awards, 11 Most Outstanding Canadian Awards and Most Outstanding Defensive Player Awards apiece, seven Most Outstanding Player Awards, and five Annis Stukus Trophies for the CFL’s Coach of the Year.

BC Lions at BC Place

The BC Lions are the longest-tenured team to continuously compete at BC Place, starting with its opening in 1983. The stadium has grown in stature across the league, hosting nine Grey Cup championship games, including a Lions victory in 2011. During home games, fans can expect to hear the BC Lions fight song “Roar, You Lions, Roar” and get hyped up with team mascot Leo the Lion. The 54,500-seat multipurpose stadium has also hosted Major League Soccer’s Vancouver Whitecaps FC as well as games during the 2010 Winter Olympics and the annual Canada Sevens rugby competition. BC Place is located on the north side of False Creek in downtown Vancouver.

A great day, great game fantastic fans and atmosphere.

by Sierra on 2023-11-09BC Place - Vancouver

Got to the game early, met up with some friends at the pregame festivities, and the good time started. Inside the game time atmosphere was great. We had really good seats, close to the action, and the Lions did not disappoint. Even though they gave un an early TD to Calgary, they got their offence going, and put up a brick wall to shut down Calgary's offence. It was one of the best performances by VA Jr. His passing was on target, as was his running game, including his 3 rushing TD's. Can't wait for the Western Final against Winnipeg. If the Lions play the way they did in the semi final, they should be victorious, and on their way to Hamilton

by Stefania on 2023-11-08BC Place - Vancouver

For the moment I stepped into the tailgate party to the end of the game, Loved it. Everyone had smiles on their faces, they fun was in their step, and the atmosphere was electric. It was my first time at BC Place for an event, I guess I picked the right one. Loved the food and drink selections. Something for everyone. Not a bad seat in the house, either. Thanks for a fabulous day

    A mostly good time

by The Dude on 2023-11-08BC Place - Vancouver

Bc Lions west Division Semi Final vs. Calgary. A very entertaining game. On entering the Zsradium, very odd that the security person did not check our tickets. During the game, most of the time when there was a review of a play by an official, there was no replay on the screen that us fans could see. Otherwise, very entertaining.
