I used to really enjoy the Howler when it was at the Shaw. Lots of people, tons of costumes. It’s new location at River Cree is just a different vibe. Hardly any people, and so many of them were not even dressed up. I won’t go back.
Good times with friends but I wish the music was better. Black Stone Cherry was awesome! I hope to see them again but the first band and Steel Panther were terrible. I'd seen Steel Panther in Vegas a couple times and it was great. They had this comedic vibe that made fun of glam rock mixed with raunchy lyrics. Plus the talent was there. But this time it was terrible, a couple of the girls that were asked to go up on stage (willingly) looked uncomfortable and the quality of the music and performance was disappointing 😞
The venue was great. The bands were amazing. The costumes and hosts were awesome. I will see steel Panther every chance I get. I will be coming back next year!
As usual, the howler party was fantastic. The line up to get in was long but it moved fast. The bars & bartenders were fast moving & friendly. The drink ticket prices were a little steep and the rooms at The River Cree Resort were very expensive though.
The costumes to see were amazing. Very well organized. Loved the bands and the sound and that it was general admission
The fact that the River Cree Resort has the Concert Venue all contained within the same building as the hotel made for a really awesome concert experience: we just walked down to the venue from our room, had a blast at the show (SUM 41 killed it!), and then walked back up to our room when it was done (and ordered 24/7 room service!)! No driving, lineups for parking; it really was the best concert experience I've ever had.
Loved all of the creative costumes. The atmosphere was fun and completely respectful. No real issues with smoking indoors; 1 vaper right in front of me during Sum 41, but that was it. Drink lines pretty short considering amount of people; I did think there would be more people, so I was very pleased with the size. Lots of dancing space, walking space etc. I heard the bathroom lines were long, even for the guys though I didn't use the restroom. Drink prices were a bit much, but that was to be expected. Taxi service to the back of the building was a nice touch so we didn't have to walk around and freeze if in facepaint or a mask. End of night, taxi service was quick and efficient too. Staff were pleasant to deal with too.
Love all thr band choices, venue was open floor, good for everyone, had places to sit etc. Loved every minute of it.
This is my first time attending this event. I heard that at the previous location lines were long for literally everything. Not the case this time. Open area and lots of room for the elaborate costumes. Good time had by all.
The overall feel of this show was stale and stagnant. I've been at the howlers for years and this year was not the first one that was mildly disappointing. I go to lots of rock shows, even rock cruises, a big difference between those and the howler, is you get excited to go to the howler then when you're there it's just not that cool. The other shows and cruises it's fun, upbeat and exciting all the way through, no real let down. The bands are having just as much fun as the guests, they want to be there. The howler, seems like it's just a gig to get through lately. It was a nice surprise to have steel panther there for two years, they were tons of fun. You could tell people were excited to see them.
This was my first Halloween howler and it was a blast! The security was great, the drinks were flowing and the bands were awesome! So were the costumes... The floors were pretty sticky and slippery but what can you do when a bunch of drunks are spilling on the floor...glad they had a concession too! That always helps absorb the alcohol! I do wish they had spiced rum at the venue, so you guys should have that next year!

Godsmack was excellent! Straight out of line was there best song.
Had a great time! Godsmack is always a blast they put on a great set. Lots of different costumes great to see everyone's choice especially the ones that wear or make unique costumes. This is a great experience and great fun especially for someone to check out for first time.
Great bands great atmosphere. Lines for alcohol were reasonable. Some new and inventive costumes were worn. I would recommend taking a limousine to and from the howler. No DUI no waiting a long time for a cab.
Had a great time, was my 3rd time at the Howler, lots of cashiers and bar servers, never any lineups, huge improvements from years past. The bands were unbelievable, kept the crowd going throughout the night. My only bad point is how slippery the floor gets, I fell once - didnt even know I was going down until after I was being picked up, crazyyy. So maybe in future have some mops around to keep the crowd safer - other than that, was a good time!
Was a great time! Set up was good, there were enough drink booths. The bands were perfect for this event. Definitely cant wait till next year.
Not as good as it was in the past. Quality of the event has declined. Did enjoy billy talent though. Stage needs to be back in the middle. Bar set up needs improvement, better set up.
As I have never been to the Howler before, I wasn't sure what to expect. I have been to many concerts at Shaw, and seating has been very minimal if any. I was really impressed that they had tables set up where a group could sit and have a drink and rest their feet. It was great. They even had a couple waitresses coming around in the early evening. That was super as the drink lines were crazy long. What was also awesome, is that the escalator to go up was actually working, so no need to climb several sets of stairs to the top! All in all, it was a huge success in my eyes, and my group is already planning costumes for next year. Two thumbs up!!
Everything was awesome except the drink lines. For the first half of the night (until Billy Talent was done) I had over 30 min waits for drinks. It improved after that. Additional stations need to be setup or additional bartenders per station. Also, a one round drink limit per customer. Other than that, bands were great, venue was great! Everything else was great!
