I couldn't believe how amazing this show was. Her voice, the band, storyline were all incredible. The guitarist is incredible as well as is the pianist and drummer. Audience was great and I have recommended it to everyone that I have seen over the last couple of days. I am probably going to go again - I enjoyed it that much! My only wish is that they would have sold a CD of the show....I think they would sell one to each person that attends.
Attended Saturday matinee and enjoyed it so much. Great intertwinning of history and Wllie Mae's songs. Band was tight and entertaining and song selections oh so groovy!! If your are a blues fan DONT MISS it....
90+ minutes of blues music that will make you appreciate what the blues are al about! Come and learn about where Big Mama's blues come from (literally, why Mama Thornton wrote & sang these songs), and be amazed by Jacquie Richarson's unforgettable performance! We had our 16 year old daughter with us, as we wanted to introduce her to what "real" music was like - she thoroughly enjoyed it and at the end of the performance said "that's not right that Big Mama's songs weren't recognized as they should have been credited to her!" You said it sister!! Ah.... the joys of parenthood... I was SO proud of this revelation! lol But let's give credit where it's due shall we?... unforgettable performance by Richardson and the musicians, captivating writing & production, and oooohhhh yeahhhh... the music, such music that emotes all that we're feelin' DO NOT MISS this!!
Just outstanding. Jacquie is superb. I cannot understand anyone not loving this , even if you're not a blues fan. This one is a black pearl, and you know how rare those are.
