About

Yung Bleu In Concert

Few rappers are as up front about their heartbreak as Young Bleu. The 24-year-old wears his emotions on his sleeve, and this commitment to telling the stories of the times he's been wronged or cheated has brought new life to his stage presence. His tangible swagger and relatable lyrics led Kevin Gates to tab him as the special guest on every leg of his Luca Brasi 3 tour, and Gates even hopped on Bleu's "Ice On My Baby" remix. "We were both fans of each other for a long time, so the vibe was organic and the timing was perfect since we are going on tour together," Bleu told Complex. While Bleu cut his teeth on gritty DIY rapping, he's quickly developed stylistically for a more complete sound that seamlessly adapts his hazy, impassioned deliveries to the big stage.

Yung Bleu Background

Born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, Yung Bleu first started rapping at age 11. Before he had access to a studio, he would record vocals on an old Nokia phone while riding the bus home from school. In 2013, he dropped his 'Hello World' mixtape on SoundCloud, gaining traction in hip-hop circles and eventually catching the attention of Boosie Badazz, who heard Bleu spitting bars on an Instagram post. The Baton Rouge rapper/impresario signed Yung Bleu to his Badazz Music Syndicate and helped Bleu drop his now five-part 'Investments' mixtape series, effectively putting him on the mainstream map. The most recent installment, 'Investments 5,' features a big-name collab with Lil Durk on "Smooth Operator," Rich Homie Quan on "Boss Ya Life Up," and Boosie himself on "Never Going Back." In 2017, Bleu signed with Columbia Records, and his first single with the label, "Miss It," hit the Billboard Hip-Hop Most Added chart. As his career continues to progress, Yung Bleu's ascent as a rapper has seen him more deeply committed to telling stories in the lovelorn R&B ethos of his idol, Luther Vandross. And his latest EP is, in fact, titled 'Bleu Vandross.'
