Blood Red Shoes on Tour

Since 2005, Brighton-based alternative rock duo Blood Red Shoes have energized crowds on both sides of the pond with an ever-evolving sound ranging from punk rock to experimental synth-rock. Laura-Mary Carter (vocals/guitar) and Steve Ansell (vocals/drums) take concertgoers on a unique musical journey, at times instigating a mosh pit with their energized guitar riffs and driving drum beats before setting a more mellow vibe with moody vocals and ethereal synths. After spending three years on separate sides of the pond, the pair reunited to produce their sixth album, 2022's GHOSTS ON TAPE, and kick off a much-anticipated international tour. Their return performances might surprise fans, not only due to a more mature and polished reinvention of what Blood Red Shoes sounds like, but because GHOSTS ON TAPE delves into a definitively more gothic tone. With performances of tracks like "COMPLY" and "DIG A HOLE," concertgoers can expect a musical exploration of the human psyche that dives into the dark world of murder and serial killers.

Blood Red Shoes Live in Concert

After their previous bands disassembled, Laura-Mary Carter and Steve Ansell decided to have a jam session one fortuitous night in 2004. That meeting of musical talent would lead to the formation of the genre-bending duo Blood Red Shoes, named after a dance rehearsal mishap in which Ginger Rogers' danced until her white satin shoes were bloody. Like Ginger, Blood Red Shoes ride the line of being edgy and approaching their art form with true dedication. Since their debut EP 7" in 2005, each of the following six albums has been a side-step at least and a reinvention at most of what the band sounds like entirely. With close to two decades behind them, the pair has formed their own Jazz Life record label and performed at hundreds of small venues and renowned international festivals like Glastonbury and Lowlands. In 2019, they were tapped to support the legendary Pixies on their European tour. The band has also received some nods from Hollywood, with "It's Getting Boring by the Sea" appearing in the 2010 film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (apparently Director Edgar Wright is a fan) and "Colours Fade" in season eight of "CSI: NY."
