About

Blue October’s angst-drenched rock has continued to evolve and sell tickets ever since the band’s 1995 start in Houston, TX. Over the course of nearly two decades and seven studio albums, frontman Justin Furstenfeld has channeled his own emotional battles and life lessons into anthemic hit songs like “Hate Me” and “Into The Ocean."  The band’s discography reflects the arc brought on by age, with ends of the spectrum being the 1998 debut “The Answers,” clouded by 20-something depression and suicidal thoughts, and the 2013 release “Sway,” a more confident, empowering real-life concept album written after his bipolar diagnosis and an unsettling divorce.   The Texas outfit, which earned the honor of opening for the Rolling Stones in the height of their 2006 platinum-selling “Foiled” push, have since managed everything from sold-out theater concerts to an intimate acoustic tour. Alt-rock fans are devoted to the group's smart combination of indie rock and orchestral melancholy.

    madness and mayheim

by justlyn on 2010-10-13Emerald Theatre - Mt. Clemens

We had excellent seats with a wonderful view and good sound. It was a charmed trip overall. I don't know why they don't play "Calling You" but it didn't matter. A range of crazy songs done with drama and instinctive insight into the pain and anger of being alive. Nothing pretentious or melodramatic about this show. I loved every moment. It was the first time that i have seen them live and i feel like i have joined a very important club!

    Blue October in Rochester

by Anonymous on 2010-04-19Water Street Music Hall - Rochester

We drove from Toronto to Rochester just to see Blue October and although I was a little disappointed my husband who is the real Fan was not, there were a few things we both agreed on; We had received a phone call from Ticketmaster 3 days before the show saying that the doors were opening at 6:00pm instead of 7:00pm as it said on the ticket. We are not fans of lining up to get into a concert so we figured if we got there around 7:00pm the lines would be gone, no such luck, the doors were not open and everyone was lined up. We waited about 10 minutes and then decided to head off to a bar to wait. We can back around 9:00 pm and we missed the first opening act - heard the last song and it sounded pretty good. I am not sure how long Blue October played for but they were really good, the only thing is I found it kind of a depressing concert, I know that most of their songs are quite dark due to Justines tortured soul but they do have some boppy songs - the only one they played was Jump Rope. I have seen them twice before this and of the three this was my least favorite, but of course we will continue to see them whenever they are within driving distance.

    Blue October in NYC

by Bluekat on 2010-04-12Webster Hall - New York

I am a HARDCORE Blue October fan from Montreal Canada. We drove 7 hours to see them perform on Saturday night in NYC. This was our third time seeing them live. The show was good but I must admit that I was disappointed. I know that Justin wasn't feeling 100%-or at least his voice wasn't. We still had a great time and would go again in a second especially knowing that it was for an amazing cause.

    Blue October was good.

by kiwe on 2009-07-13The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

I missed the opening act, but I thought Blue October did a good job. The concert was all ages, and therefore there was a drinking area separate in the back. If you wanted to have a drink you couldn't really get anywhere close to the performers. Overall, their performance was good....

    Mesmerizing

by TerryM on 2009-07-12The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

'I've always been impressed by the lyrics and the complexity of the songs. I loved Foiled for the Last Time the first time I heard it. However, nothing compares to seeing them live......Jason is mesmerizing as a singer and it's hard to take your eyes off of him....except when the electric violinist is taking center stage..... I never realized it was a violin as an accompanyment until seeing the concert.....and seeing the concert has enhanced my enjoyment from listening to the music. Without a doubt, one of the most enjoyable concerts that I have seen in a long time Wish I had brought my camera...

Justin's truly in touch with his fans

by GuyDressedInWhite on 2009-07-12The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

Really terrific show. The boys put great intensity and passion into all that they do. So good to see them up close and personal at the Phoenix. After the show the band came out and spent a lot of time talking and signing with the fans. You really felt the connection. Justin had a sore throat and was advised not to come out - but he did and then spent a good amount of time with us. That's what I call grounded, real and in touch. This band is the real deal.
