About

R&B singer, songwriter and producer Brian McKnight released his 13th studio album, More Than Words, in 2013, and he followed it up with a theater tour that had fans grabbing tickets for concerts throughout the US. The Buffalo, NY native, who began singing in a church choir, has been a mainstay on the urban contemporary scene since he released his self-titled debut album in 1992, at the tender age of 19. His arresting falsetto and smooth style were an immediate hit with R&B and pop listeners, who made "One Last Cry" the singer's first Top 20 single. McKnight's best-known songs followed in the '90s, including "Love Is" (a duet with Vanessa Williams), "Back at One," and "You Should Be Mine (Don't Waste Your Time)" featuring Mase. Though he hasn't yet taken home a trophy, McKnight -- who can play nine musical instruments -- has earned 16 Grammy nominations over the course of his career. He's also sold more than 20 million albums worldwide.

    ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

by ValPal on 2011-02-17Sound Academy - Toronto

Brian McKnight is thee best solo male artist - in my eyes. He took everyone's breath away...especially mine as he serenaded me on stage!! He did such a exceptional job with just him on the stage, no band...just him. LOVE those kinds of shows.

    dissappointed

by flightgirl on 2011-02-16Sound Academy - Toronto

Well, I guess depending on what you thought you were getting and what we did get it was just OK. He did alot more talking and jokes and played acoustic which was fine but I went to hear him sing. It seemed like alot of other people were starting to leave early as well. I did not stay for the whole show left a little early and it was OK. He did more talking about how he got started and story telling with some songs. I was disappointed and would probably not buy tickets again. For others this might be your thing and if so enjoy, for me not my thing! thanks

Great show with amazing talents, but...

    by klee0105 on 2011-02-15Sound Academy - Toronto

I bought VIP tickets for this event, which really did not give me any advantage! "VIP lounge" was far distant from the stage, was located on the side and did not have any seat, while those people who had general admission were able to stand right in front of the stage. When I was purchasing the ticket online, the description for VIP said "wine for men, roses for women, 2 free drink tickets, personal autography and picture with Brian McKnight" We didn't get any wine or rose, NO ONE knew if BM is actually coming down after the show and when and where we could meet him. A lot of people who were waiting at the VIP lounge left after the show. BM came down for autography for about half an hour later, but they made us to purchase t-shirts(which were only available in women's size) in order to get a picture with him, which was extra $20. What was the point of paying extra $60 for VIP?! BM's performance was amazing, and also other musicians were great, I'd love to go again, but I won't purchase VIP ticket.

    Good concert, bad backstage experience.

    by Lr210 on 2011-02-15Sound Academy - Toronto

The concert was good - Brian's voice is incredible as always! We purchased VIP passes which included pics with Brian - this part was not the best experience. Apparently once you buy your VIP pass to get your pic with Brian, they'd like you to Buy a T-Shirt on top of this to get "front of the line" - definetly looked like a cash grab, and not a great client experience. Brian was nice and personable, but the whole" buy a t-shirt to get front of the line with Brian" was tacky.

    Brian McKnight Amazing As Always

by KristinaB on 2011-02-15Sound Academy - Toronto

The setting looked gorgeous for a Valentines Theme... At Start the DJ played sick old school RnB... Opening acts started late... after 9:30pm... when was supposed to start at 9... but knowing after that H-Town couldnt make it... may have been the reason? Too bad... was looking to see H-Town and hear Knockin da Boots! haha... First opening act... what can I say SUCKED lol... the rest... amazing... only got better!! Brian didnt come on stage till after 11:30 which I think made many people ancy... but as soon as he showed his face... and opened his voice to us... we all forgot :) He was amazing... liked that this time it was a bit different than all the other concerts Ive seen him at... totally would see him again... very well spoken man... love hearing his stories and inspirations...

    Brian McKnight Was Amazing!

by Sherms on 2011-02-15Sound Academy - Toronto

He should come to Toronto more often. My only suggestion would be to market more. Let the public know Brian McKnight is coming to Toronto. After sharing my experience with my fellow colleagues, they were all upset that they didn't hear about the show. It was an unforgettable experience to witness Brian McKnight Unplugged*. Best Valentine's Day present ever.. So talented - better live than hearing on the radio... BTW. THE MC WAS HILARIOUS!!!I! Funniest moment - mentioned H-town couldn't make the proformance because one of the members was stopped the US customs because he did not pay his child support.. HehehehahahaLOL Thats what you get when you*Knock In Da Boot*

    Brian was boring

by Nisgaa on 2010-12-21Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

I am a fan, but was not expecting a one man show. I was looking forward to a live band, and an opening act; all the usual things that happen when you go to a concert. Of course his voice is amazing and so beautiful to listen to. Next time it should be indicated on the ticket master website that the event will be acoustic.

Brian McKnight is an amazing musician!!!

    by Mitchell1 on 2010-12-21Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

I've been to 3 of Brian McKnight's concerts. One in Seattle, another in Las Vegas and this latest one in Vancouver. His latest concert was his best yet. It was just him, the piano, and 2 guitars. He even left it open to Q&A to the audience at the end of his show. After that, he took requests from the audience for 4 songs to sing and created a medley as his encore presentation. After the show my wife and I were even able to run up to the stage, speak to him briefly and shake his hand. Brian McKnight is a class act. I look forward to attending more of his concerts!

Greatest One Man Show - Brian McKnight

    by AC27 on 2010-12-21Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

This was one of the BEST one-man shows!!! It was just Mr. Biran McKnight himself, a piano and two guitars. I had chills going down my back and goose bumps on my arms as soon as he started to play and sing!!

Brian McKnight is a smooth gentleman

by MCasa on 2010-12-21Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

An outstanding unplugged, down to earth, pure, intimate and genuine experience. He was very interactive with the crowd, relished and teased the crowd when people sang his falsettos, did an amazing encore and was generous enough to field questions from the group. Thank you for making your 1st time in Vancouver an awesome one for everyone! Merry Christmas Brian McKnight.

    B. McKnight big disappointment

by irate on 2010-12-21Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

I was disappointed with how the concert progressed. I was under the influence that there was supposed to be an orchestra, a young pianist and instead i listened to chopped up songs that the audience filled in. I cannot say much about the question and answer period. This concert was definitely not worth $100.00 and i would like nothing better than to get a refund. All the people around me were young women that spent the night screaming or talking, applying make up, playing with their cell phones, and the crowd directly in front of me were forever getting up and moving around. This concert should never have been in such a beautiful theatre. This was a big waste of time!

Brian McKnight was SMOOTH, talented, personable !

by Rack16 on 2010-11-25University At Buffalo Center for the Arts - Buffalo

I have always been crazy for this man's music, and decided to go see him for the first time ever. It was amazing !!! I didn't know he played musical instruments over and above his fantastic voice. He was so personable with the audience, friendly and fun loving. He encouraged audience participation and got us all rocking. The music was all very well played with a great sound system and musicians as back up. His tributes to Luther Vandross and Michael Jackson were also amazing.

    Brian McKnight....still the one!

by 1LovableMe on 2010-11-23University At Buffalo Center for the Arts - Buffalo

I had the pleasure of making a road trip to Buffalo to see Brian McKnight. All I can say is he's spectacular! Sounded just like the Cd's but even better! His two older sons accompanied him on various tracks and they've surely got their father's talents (and certainly his looks!) Thanks Brian for delivering such a great show! All the Best! Lovable me

    WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!!

by CanuckConnie on 2010-03-10The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - Windsor

I attended the Brian McKight concert with two friends. To say the least, we all thought his performance was terrible. If he sang four songs throughout his time on stage, we'd be surprised. He couldn't seem to sing a song without stopping to make some comment or other. Then he brought his two teenage sons on stage to sing and play their guitars. We did not go to see two teeny boppers perform. We went to see Bryan McKnight. We felt he was just using his performance to showcase his sons. WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY it was attending this concert!!

Show was good but a little to long. The opening act could be shorter. I was a bit suprised that they were a gospel group and quoted the bible at the show. I do not think this is appropriate at this venue.
