I went to Digital Dreams Festival for the first time this year and I was very impressed by it. I went both days. I love how fans were allowed to bring their plastic bottle of water, reserved their lockers in advance as well as having free cellphone charging stations. I also loved that there were a lot of free water stations (I saved over $70 on drinks because of that) and how the porta potties looked usually clean.
This festival was the first festival in Canada where they used a Cashless system. In other words, you load credit on your wristband and you use the wristband to pay for food, drinks, merchandise, games, carnival rides, etc.
There were a great list of DJs to go see and I was able to fit my schedule nicely for both days. Four stages and over 60 DJs to choose from with my favourite being the Fantasyland/#19 Social Experiment stage as it was more intimate from the other stages. My only disappointment with the festival is that Paul Oakenfold was unable to make it to make it and the Digital Dreams app, while they did mention that Paul couldn't make it, they also made some errors in updating their schedule, which screwed up my day a bit. Plus, this is more about me, but I spent a huge amount of time in the sun during Day 2, which tired me out a lot, but it got better after the downpour during Dash Berlin's set. Other than that, I had a great time at the festival and would go back there.
There is still a number of improvement for Digital Dreams Festival to make, but it is getting there. Digital Dreams Festival is only in its third year and already is proving to be a great festival not only in Toronto, but also in Canada and maybe worldwide as well.
