Still the songstress, activist and artist that makes her truly original! Proud of this First Nation warrior!
I was disappointed in the volume control of the event. The voices and instruments were so amplified to the extent that it was difficult to understand the Lyrics. The saving grace was when Buffy Sainte-Marie was featured in a solo role.
Best show I have seen in years. Not thar the other shows were not nice but this one was one of the nicest surprises.
Wow! Buffy Ste-Marie has a voice that is so powerful it still makes me tingle with delight! She knows her range well and uses her voice to inspire feelings in her audience. She has so much energy and calm all wrapped up in one beautiful package. Buffy has had an exceptionally long and honoured career and is proud to talk about it. Her band were a true compliment to her style. She did not disappoint and I continue to be an avid fan and admirer.
The opening act 'The Fugitives' harmonized so well. Would have liked to hear the female voice more, she sang so softly. Her solo during the show was beautiful. Buffy Saint Marie and band were awesome. Her voice still has that lovely haunting appeal, and was balanced so well with the rock performances of the band.
Buffy Ste. Marie and her crack 3 piece band brought down the house with a superb concert, featuring tunes from her brilliant career dating back to the 60's. The set was very similar to the one she played 3 years ago at the Brandon Folk Festival. Her voice is as strong as it ever was, and her playing on guitar and keyboards looked effortless. No one went home unhappy. The opening act, The Fugitives warmed the crowd up with beautiful harmonies and catchy lyrics. Well done all around!
High energy, excellent entertainer and backed by fabulous musicians. Wow. Love love love her! Love Buffy's reading list and her optimism that we can make a difference again government and big business.
The concert was great, she is definately an entertainer and a fine performer. She can still wow the crowd.
Never been to Festival Place before, but it's amazing. The seating and intimacy of the concert was fantastic. Of course Buffy was also absolutely phenomenal!
I saw Buffy speak in 1996 at the University of Manitoba, but I'd never seen her sing. She really got the house rocking at this concert (not an easy task with an Ottawa audience at the incredibly uncomfortable Bronson centre)! I'd go and see her perform any time. She's put together a great band too. Wow!
This Woman wails!!! She is awe-inspiration and an amazing performer. Her band rocks too.
She is such a talented songwriter and artist. Nice venue. She definately doesn't need a band behind her to perform.
Buffy Sainte-Marie is a must see for any person who likes musical events. She is an unbelievable song-writer and singer. She is not only a good performer but has politics that are very sound as well. She is a true performer that has talent and surrounds herself with other musically talented individuals. The drummer, lead guitarist, bass, and backup vocals were excellent. The show was among many good acts i have seen in 2009. Much beyond all her true talent, Buffy has a smile that will captivate you and last with you a life-time. I was honored to attend this event, in the future I will keep track of Buffy to see when and where she plays, so I may see her perform again!
Buffy is one of the most influential and most charismatic performers off all time. Her music has stood the test of time and she continues to write her music that sings to our very souls. I am so glad that I finally got to see this great woman in person.
definitely one of the 60's legends who hasn't slowed down one bit. Buffy's activism, whether it be enviromentalism, first nations, or plain old love songs, is currently, unmatched amongst her colleagues. What a song catalogue to choose tunes from. Starwalker, Bury my heart..., Indian Cowboy, Up where we belong, incredible show of talent. So much energy that the audience really picks up on. Could she be, is she, one of the uniting fores between first nations and white society? Highly recommended
