About

Calexico and Iron & Wine on Tour

Calexico and Iron & Wine first made an artistic connection with In the Reins, the 2005 EP that brought Sam Beam, Joey Burns and John Convertino together. The acclaimed collaboration introduced both acts to wider audiences and broadened Beam's artistic horizons, but it was the shared experience of touring together in the tradition of Bob Dylan's "Rolling Thunder Revue" that cemented their bond. Their metaphorical roads diverged in the years that followed, but they kept in touch and cross-pollinated where they could. But although they often talked about rekindling their collaboration in the studio and on the stage, it wasn't until last year that their schedules aligned. Calexico and Iron & Wine have announced Years to Burn, their first full–length album together, available June 14th via City Slang in the UK/Europe and Sub Pop in the rest of the world.

    Snooze

by AudiophileSK on 2020-02-05The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Felt I was duped. The listing placed Calexico first - but there was next to none of the trademark Calexico energized music. Was mostly, I guess, the sound of Iron & Wine. Was ..nice.. but a bit of a snooze. Lullaby-ish and relaxing with some nice jazz overtones on the early tunes played.. but not what I went for/expected.

    Poor sound quality

by H. on 2020-02-05The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Sound quality at the Danforth Music Hall was lousy and affected our enjoyment of this concert: specifically the vocals. We couldnt discern words. For example, between songs when Sam Beam was making chit chat, we couldnt comprehend what was being said.

the volume was great and I got to bed early

by christianstb on 2020-02-05The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

This was a really sleepy show, and I guess I was expecting a more Calexico vibe. The musicians were all excellent except for the long winded psychedelic bass solo - which needed more fog machine... perhaps not playing a lullaby on a sunday would've helped as well. All in, great musicianship, the volume was perfect, I didn't need to wear ear plugs and I got home before 10:30.
