Calgary Flames History
The Flames originated in Atlanta, Georgia in 1972. After eight years, they relocated to Calgary in 1980, where they were greeted by a far more hockey-friendly fanbase. Thus began the Battle of Alberta, which refers to the ongoing rivalry between the Flames and the Edmonton Oilers to the north.
The Flames were vanguards in terms of bringing in foreign players, as Håkan Loob became one of the league's first European stars. Loob, Doug Gilmour, Joe Nieuwendyk, Mike Vernon, Lanny McDonald, and Al MacInnis were the stars behind the Flames' only Stanley Cup Championship in 1989, gaining a measure of payback against the Montreal Canadiens in six games. Montreal had defeated the Flames in the Stanley Cup Final three years earlier.
Despite a block on players from the USSR, the Flames had the foresight to draft Russian star Sergei Makarov in 1983. Makarov was among the first Russians to play in the NHL when he joined the Flames in 1989-1990.
Despite financial issues, the diminutive Theo Fleury and Jarome Iginla led the Flames throughout the '90s, bouncing in and out of the postseason with little long-term success until 2004, when the Flames made another run at the Cup, only to lose to the Tampa Bay Lightning in seven games. The Flames have made it to the Playoffs 25 times and have two Presidents' Trophies to their credit, along with eight division championships.

Calgary Flames at the Scotiabank Saddledome
Home to the Calgary Flames, the idea for the Scotiabank Saddledome(Opens in new tab) was seeded when it became clear that two major events would be in need of a world-class arena — the bid for the 1988 Olympic Winter Games and the arrival of an NHL franchise. The Saddledome opened its doors on October 15, 1983. The arena became a star attraction during the 1988 Olympic Winter Games, hosting both the figure skating and hockey competitions. In the fall of 1994, the arena underwent renovations and one year later the new Scotiabank Saddledome was unveiled. The Calgary Flames celebrated their first season at the arena during their home opener for the 1995-1996 season. The arena can seat more than 19,000 guests and hosts 150 events per year.

They didn’t play that well but it was a decent game.
Everything was seamless. Even though we only booked the seats a few weeks in advance we couldn’t have asked for better. Parking was close and easy, paid 15 fo it. We got there extra early to ensure we had parking so went to the Cowboy Casino for a drink and some gambling. Walked over to the arena. Lots of people available to check for vaccinations and ID and tickets so no line up. Like I said we were there extra early and drinks were 5 dollars during happy hour. Not bad for an arena. Game was awesome. Favourite player scored and the Bruins won. Would definitely do this for a Christmas present again
I really liked you can add your tickets to the Apple wallet
Great game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The event staff at the Saddledome were quick and efficient with everything. The boys had a great time
Managing my purchase, and tickets through Ticket Master is terrible. Why should I have to download 2 apps to manage tickets on my phone?
Everything was very nice and awesome. Beautiful view, very nice and comfortable seats, but the most lovely, there were beautiful and gorgeous scarfs
We were trying to get there early to get the "happy hour" pricing on some food on the concourse. After dodging/waiting in traffic to get parking and then finally getting it, we waited in line for food. By the time we got to the counter (inefficient lineups, by the way), we were told that we were a few minutes late and couldn't get the happy hour pricing. We were told that we had to be at the counter and that even though we had been waiting in line for 10 minutes ... there were people waiting in line for food and the counter staff didn't have them stand to the side so that other people could place their orders. The "supervisor" basically said "too bad, you were in line too long".
Finally NHL hockey is creating more passion and it is more entertaining then ever before. Annoying though that they jack up the prices of certain NHL teams. And disadvantage people with smaller incomes..
Was an awesome fast game with tons of crowd interaction (could feel the energy in the arena)! We are so fortunate to watch such great hockey players on the ice - Goudreau, Talbot, Lucic, on the flames are some of my favorite players! Had a great view of the goal in section 103 - excellent seats! Excellent arena, great camera angles of the plays, light displays and awesome commentaries! As an Albertan hockey is a part of life! Love the Game and watching great plays unfold on the ice!
Bought tickets in section 117 row 6 of the Saddledome. Unfortunately the view was highly distorted by the glass and we could not view play on 1/3 of the ice surface. These were expensive club seats and definitely not worth the price paid.
Disappointing if you are a Flames fan. Christmas atmosphere was great.
Was disappointed that the website to buy tickets did not indicate one of the tickets purchased has an obstructed view of the whole ice. The lineup for a hamburger before the game was impossible, and it hardly moved, so there needs to be something done to to do this or provide more locations serving hamburgers. There was not a lot of buzz or emotion in the crowd until almost the end of the game-the team is going through tough time and people like the excitement of a good close game.
Easy to purchase tickets as always through Ticketmaster. Not a whole lot to say about the game/venue. it is what is expected
Fantastic event for the entire family! Would love to see more events like this one, affordable for everyone.
Great fun for the family! Seat price you can’t beat.
It was an unforgettable experience and overall was a good time out.
Good seats, good game, crappy result if you are a Flames fan.
What a great game. Both teams doing excellent at the moment. I just wish my amazing seat didn’t cost $250.
Seemed like the flames could have played harder. Especially in OT
