You gotta love the CBC... But $16 beer?! Ouch.

by jes5ika on 2016-05-31TD Echo Beach - Toronto

Pros: nice venue, great view of skyline next to main stage, decent variety of food, kid-friendly but doesn't feel too Lord of the Flies for unaccompanied adults, decent sound quality once they hit the levels, EXCELLENT performances. There's talent here at home. Cons: some logistical errors: gates opened 20 min late causing the searchlight winner to start her performance with nobody watching... Not cool. Maybe it was neat for her to watch everybody walk in though so who knows? Expensive alcohol, woo! $16 beer and then wouldn't even give me a cup of ice to pour my cidar in. "The ice is for liquor only" she said. "It's 40 degrees out and I killed a twenty on this lukewarm cidar" I cried!! Some feedback issues on the main mics, both stages. Bugged the artists more than the crowd though.

    Magical evening

by DuBL on 2016-05-31TD Echo Beach - Toronto

Definitely the picture perfect weather helped. But the setting and the sounds made it a wonderful evening. Line up was a great example of the quality and diversity of the Canadian music scene. Improvements were made over last years event - much more and better food options. Oddly few toilets meant long line ups so still room to improve. And still confused why you shut everything down before the last show starts - no option but to wait through a DJ set? Odd choice even if it was a great sampling of prince and Bowie.

For the huge crowd, there was not enough food. And considering part of the appeal was that there was going to be an array of food trucks, it was pretty disappointing. My friends and I stood in line for over an hour at one food truck only to make it to the front and be told that everything was sold out. Cool bands though!

    Thank you CBC

by HippyRocker on 2015-05-26TD Echo Beach - Toronto

What a great event. My first time going to a show at Echo Beach and hopefully won't be the last. It was great to see all these great Canadian artists. I guess my only complaint would be that there was not enough food vendors.

    Patrick Watson warmed things up!

by Binzer on 2015-05-26TD Echo Beach - Toronto

Great festival! Definitely surpassed my expectations. Not huge, just right. It was great to see lots of families and kids and people of all ages in to the night. It got cold in the evening but Patrick Watson warmed things up with an amazing performance! I've seen him 3 other times but this was great; under the stars and cuddled up without a HUGE crowd. Loved it. I was looking forward to Coeur de Pirate but she didn't really play too many of her old French tunes. Bahamas was also amazing and sung with local CHOIR CHOIR CHOIR. Great Canadian performances.

    Great Concert For The Kids!

by thrushhermitfan on 2015-05-26TD Echo Beach - Toronto

The atmosphere was great for my 2 and 4 year old boys to see their first real rock concert. Joel Plaskett was stellar as always and the boys really took to Mo Kenney. Also enjoyed the Strumbellas and the boys loved dancing along. Maybe when they get a little older we'll be able to stay till the end. It would have been nice to have a few more food options as he lines were ridiculous, especially with kids.

    All the bands were stellar!

by WildGarlic on 2014-06-17Deer Lake Park - Burnaby

In spite of the rain, the music made the day. All of the acts were entertaining and I found some new music to add to my playlists. I especially enjoyed the Arkells, and Lauren Mann.

All of the artists were amazing. So glad they had Spoon in this lineup full of incredible Canadian talent.

Mangan and Arkells were good, as always.

I did not like that you weren't allowed to bring any food in, nor that the alcohol was so expensive and limited for choice. $7.50/drink is ridiculous, especially when there is no variety to choose from. The water stations were good.

    Deer Lake in the rain....!!!

by Ghomeshifan on 2014-06-17Deer Lake Park - Burnaby

I enjoyed the CBC Music fest despite the rain...each of the performing artists was sensitive and aware of the audience's circumstances and did their best to enhance the positive while acknowledging the negative. I so enjoyed the almost purely Canadian content and was encouraged to enjoy new and upcoming artists as well as some with great acclaim already established.

One of these is not like the others ....

by wiggypiggy on 2014-06-17Deer Lake Park - Burnaby

The music festival was amazing despite the rain. Almost all of the artists were fantastic including the ones on the second stage! I think the CBC could have done better than the DJ for 30 minutes while setting up the stage. He just didn't fit ... I mean, interview some artists if you are killing time ... have someone with a guitar play something ... not a DJ! Apart from him I loved it!!!
