CHARLEY PRIDE IN CONCERT:
As one of the most successful African-American country artists of all time, Charley Pride stands as a pioneer of the genre and an enduring icon of traditional country music. With more than half a century of recordings and performances under his belt, Pride is a seasoned veteran on the road, traversing his decade-spanning discography with a care and tenderness that underscores his passion for the stage. From the familiar twang of "Is Anybody Goin' to San Antone" to the lap steel-drenched lilt of "Just Between You and Me," Pride covered all his greatest hits at his 2013 shows, drumming up enthusiasm for more of the same on his 2014 tour dates.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Born to poor Mississippi sharecroppers, Charley Pride had aspirations of being a major league baseball pitcher before an injury led him to invest in his other passion: music. After recording several demos in Memphis in the late '50s, pride signed with RCA, releasing his first single in 1966 with "The Snakes Crawl at Night." Pride's third single "Just Between You and Me" really broke things wide open, landing at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning him a Grammy nomination. In 1967, he became the second black performer to ever take the stage at the famed Grand Ole Opry, paving the way for an astonishing chart run that saw him score eight No. 1 records between 1969-1971. Pride has continued to record and tour over the decades, racking up an impressive array of country hits and proving himself an indefatigable performer with his continued showmanship on tour.

He sang all of his old hits plus some of his new album.He is 83 years young and gave it his all,singing for a hour and a half straight . The sold out crowd loved himand I can't wait to see him again next year..Love you Charlie,keep singing,I'm still listening.

by BREAKALEG on 2017-05-22Club Regent Event Centre - Winnipeg...he is showing his age.....not too spry walking on stage, but his voice is good and the jokes were funny.....saw him in 2015 and there was a big difference....this time his band played for the first half-hour, then intermission, then Charley came on for a little better than an hour...if you love Charley Pride, go....!!!!

The man's voice is amazing! Loved all the songs and even the new ones. The set was a little different than October but just as amazing. When's he coming back?

Can't wait to go see him again. Hope it is soon. This was our fist time in this venue and it was great. Too bad they have to over charge for a bottle of water though.

He seemed to do a lot of medleys this time along with the favourites. His band was great. Only wish the show was longer but no real complaints. After all, it's Charley Pride.

I am so happy I got to see him!

by Anonymous on 2016-10-18Casino Rama Resort - RamaFirst time seeing Charlie Pride and was a surprise gift to my husband who loves him.Beautiful.I was surprised to see so many people taking pictures at the front of the stage.Thought that was disturbing people in the front from really enjoying the show .I wouldn't buy tickets on the floor because of that .
