About

CHET FAKER IN CONCERT:

With major acts like Cut Copy and Empire of the Sun emerging from Australia's electronica scene, it’s no surprise Chet Faker hails from Down Under. Creating the perfect music to chill out to, his soulful vocals are the highlight of his shows and add an organic twist to music based on looping beats and synth keyboards. Chet Faker's 2014 headlining tour in support of his debut album Built on Glass will have fans dancing to his seductive beats all night long.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Paying homage to one of his many  influences Chet Baker, Nicholas James Murphy put his own spin on the jazz trumpeter’s name with his new alias. His debut EP under the moniker, 2012’s Thinking In Textures, generated significant buzz with a unique cover of Blackstreet’s "No Diggity,” topping the HypeMachine charts and becoming a viral sensation. Since then, Faker has proven to be a diverse talent, collaborating with fellow Australian producer Flume on his Lockjaw EP and remixing artists like the Temper Trap and MS MR. The ARIA Award winner gave fans two reasons to rejoice in 2014: he dropped his debut full-length album Built On Glass that’s smashing barriers between analog and digital, and he’s embarking on a massive international tour.

  • Everything I wanted and more!

The concert was amazing and just so worth it. I was right in front and the vibes were immaculate with Chet playing all of my all time faves such as Talk Is Cheap, No Diggity etc. Adi Oasis killed it too. 11/10 would relive the experience.

What a great way to start the week! The opening show was such a funky and soulful surprise, soo good! And then Chet Faker himself was even better than I jad hoped! Got us all dancing :) Love this venue, its big enough to have a space to dance and move around but cozy enough to feel close to the artist

  • Definitely check out CF

Firstly, I'm biased - I'm a big fan of CF's albums. This live show was great. The opening act was a bit too EDM for me, but it grew on me as the set progressed. Chet Faker's set itself was great. I expected there to be a band for at least part of it, but CF managed everything electronically. I think he also tuned most of his tracks to make them a bit more upbeat (rather than slow and overly soulful, although they definitely did have soul) to get the crowd into it... and the crowd was into it. He also took a few minutes to talk and engage with the crowd which was cool.
