great show by this artist, Tom still can wail!!! venue was ok
Full marks to Tom for putting so much energy in to the show. His band is tight as well, and it was amazing for Tom's wife to join him on stage to duet on a couple of songs, then remain on stage for the rest of the set doing background vocals. Hats off to Tom's guitar player, too, who was really in to it and giving his all too. The set included a number of strong tracks from Tom's recent solo CD, plus a ton of classic Cinderella songs. While I can't help but hope to see the original line up perform again one day, thank you to Tom for visiting Calgary and allowing us to enjoy those classic songs.
Concert was fantastic music, and the Venue was very good as well.
Concert was amazing all show no filler and keifer left it all on stage. If you get a chance to see him live do yourself a favor and see him.
Tom is Cinderella, he is so freaking talented (he plays at least 3,or more instruments) and his work ethic is hardcore! He did all of his hit songs (AFAIK) and just about collapsed from dehydration by the end of the concert (that dude sweats a lot!). I understand that he has some country influence in his music (it is in the Cinderella stuff most definitely in his solo stuff). However I am willing to overlook that because as an Artist they want to express themselves musically even if the fans "don't get it". In the same vein. his "Yoko Ono" Wife. was singing with him on at least one song (I am trying to forget ;) ) was at best awkward and at times she was not singing so much as she was just looking very odd, smiling and out of place. She was ok as a background singer and should probably stay there. Sorry Tom, I know you love her, but this is my review and I am sticking to it ;) [Trying to give "constructive feedback", if he ever reads this ;), BTW: please come back to Calgary again and it will be another sold out concert!] Having said all this, if you are a Cinderella fan, it is worth *every* penny to go see him in concert. He gives 1000% and especially in light that he had a serious vocal cord problem a few years back and at one point I thought he was going to leave his vocal cords on the stage ;) He still wails and does not look like a 55 year old dude! Keep on rocking Tom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1989 was Tom's last visit to Calgary & his performance was well worth the wait. Hopefully the gap between now & his next visit won't be so long. From the first note to the last of the encore everyone was on their feet, swaying & singing along. Fond memories of the past played in ones mind during Tom's performance of Cinderella hits, honour was played to those who he paid tribute to within his show & celebration of his evolving new melodic gift.
Not sure why the rest of the band wasn't on this tour but Tom Keifer can still sing like it's 1987. Lots of singers of that era can't hit the notes any longer. He had a couple of songs that he struggled to get there but in the end; he sang his heart out. Played all of the Cinderella's hits, threw in a couple of covers (Stones and Prince!?)
We watched Tom Kiefer last weekend at the Arizona State Fair in Phoenix. He was playing in a combo act with John Waite and Berlin. I have to say the Tom blew the rest away hands down. His effort and sound were first rate. I was shocked at how few had turned out for the show. Tom, you need to come up to Calgary, Canada. We will fill the seats to watch you. The sound was crisp and clear, and guitarwork was amazing. Tom brought his wife out to sing with him on the great Cinderella song "You Don't Know What You Got" while he sat with an accoustic. It was a shortened set for this event, but I have put him on my watch list to find another show that we can hit up.
