    Colin Hay - outstanding

by Arkio on 2009-09-01The Avalon Ballroom Theatre At Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort - Niagara Falls

Colin was in top form. Beautfiul music from a beautiful soul. This guy can write and sing songs. Still relevant today as 25 years ago. Better then ever. Clever lyrics with wonderful riffs that will keep you toe tapping all night long. The pipes on this guy are amazing. His music absolutely kills anything in the top 40 today or for that matter the last 20 years. Completlely underrated artist that should be playing in much larger venues. Highly recommended whether you prefer his Men at Work stuff - all fabulous or his many solo albums which are all gems. I cannot wait to see Colin and his band again ASAP.

    Colin and his band rocked.

He was very talkative and he made us all laugh. He played many different guitars, all were played excellently. Great drummer, keyboards, guitar and bass and his wife was a pleasure to watch.

    FANTASTIC, FANTASTIC, FANTASTIC!

by NickGeorge on 2009-08-31The Avalon Ballroom Theatre At Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort - Niagara Falls

From the moment Colin Hay took the stage to the moment he left it my wife and I were memorized. His voice is just incredible. The band is a very talented group of musicians. I can't recall ever going to a show that I only knew a small bit of the material being played, and still had so much fun.

A great show. He's still got it! A nice mix of old Men at Work songs and later solo stuff.

    HAY WORTH THE WAIT

by musicman01 on 2009-08-30The Avalon Ballroom Theatre At Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort - Niagara Falls

It has been 7 years since I last saw Colin perform. Always a treat when he is in the area. Last night NO EXCEPTION. Hay was his usual strong voiced self.Sailing through old Men numbers and solo gold. He played 5 new songs from the new album American Sunshine which is sure to be one of his Classic offerings. The band was strong as well on the last night of the 'band' leg of the tour. Colin is as comical between songs as well. Joking about the old days and how album sales have changed dramatically over his storied career as well as insight into what some songs are about. His back-up singer (wife) Cecilia Noel is amazing as well, offering her own twist on old songs like 'Down under' where she performs a vocal flute rendition. The crowd however was extremely mundane and you had to feel sorry for the musicians while they played so well to have a SLEEPER crowd. Hay deserved better than that! The sound was great and Hay's voice hasn;t wavered since the Men at Work days. After the show Colin signed autugraphs and met with any fans who wanted to talk. Even if only for a few moments. This guy is a class act and it is good to see how down to earth he really is. In a world of musicians he is a diamond in the rough. I strongly recommend this artist . Just not at this venue because of the type of crowd that casinos draw. Anyone will go no matter who the artist and many tickets have been comped. People falling asleep in front row ahead of me proves this point. You would not pay $50 a ticket to sleep in the front row. Disapointing. However Hay was well worth the wait. Can't wait till next time.

    Get rid of the girl

by Gysmo on 2009-08-30The Avalon Ballroom Theatre At Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort - Niagara Falls

It was an OK concert. The most annoying part of it was throughout most of the songs there was a girl who did a bit of singing and she danced all the time. This created a distraction that was not needed. I'd prefer just looking at and hearing the band. Get rid of her!!!
