Don't go to games at the Rose Bowl

by offyerhead on 2017-07-27Rose Bowl - Pasadena

Had tickets for the Mexico v Jamaica semi final at the Rose Bowl. Brutal traffic (not the Gold Cup's fault) and $40 to park a kilometre away on a golf course fairway. This was the official parking provider so this one is on the organizers. Nice to see a game in a beautiful, old school stadium like the Rose Bowl but LA traffic and price gouging on the parking when they know there is no public transit system in place that can get thousands of people to and from the site is pretty awful.

Gold Cup 2015 at BMO Field

by Sambapete on 2015-07-17BMO Field - Toronto

Even if I enjoyed the 2 games that night, I was surprised to see that the Public Announcements were made in English and Spanish. Whatever happened to French? As a Francophone, I found that extremely disturbing when a few feet away the PanAm Games had all indications and announcements in French, English and Spanish.

    Gold Cup 2015 at BMO

by nicocanada on 2015-07-17BMO Field - Toronto

Good value for money seeing 2 games, the attendance was pretty sparse though. The games were good, and the concession choices were good as well.

    Super Boring!

by Kersten on 2015-07-17BMO Field - Toronto

I'd never heard of the Gold Cup before attending this event. After attending, I now see why! The football was extremely slow paced and boring. We watched 2 games Jamaica vs El Salvador and Canada vs Costa Rica. It was definitely NOT worth the money. I very rarely write negative reviews but I just had to for this one. It was a good night with friends, but the quality of the football on the pitch was awful. I won't be attending another Gold Cup game in the future!

    International Soccer...not for everyone.

by Arry on 2015-07-17BMO Field - Toronto

I attend all of TFC regular season matches as a season seat holder and LOVE them. This match not so much! So the seats for this match, which are not in a supporters section, were OK but not great. But as they were not in a supporters section persistent standing is not permitted and banners are not allowed. However BMO field staff did not enforce these rules, nor the rule about umbrellas not being allowed, so I missed a large portion of the first match played and the first 15 minutes of the second match. During the first match a few El Salvador fans were giving a couple of Jamaican fans a hard time - I don't mind swearing - but the language used was extremely inappropriate (especially given the number of children). Eventually during the second half of the first match the El Salvador fans immediately behind us were asked to leave by BMO staff - they didn't even have tickets for that section - which resulted in a number of beers/pops/food being thrown at the BMO field staff by El Salvador fans from several rows behind us. During the second match a group of Costa Rican fans stood in front of us (mostly taking selfies and waving so their friends could see them) but eventually they moved on and sat down. One of the young ladies in this group was pulled aside by BMO field staff towards the end of the game because she was screaming so loudly and very drunk. ...stuff like this just doesn't happen at the regular season TFC matches. As far as the action on the pitch went...Jamaica played poorly for the first half but stepped up in the second and scored and managed to hold on after their striker got sent off - think they will not proceed beyond the next round. Canada played well defensively but you can't win if you can't score...Costa Rica proceeds to the next round with 3 ties - can't see them proceeding beyond the next round either. All in all BMO field staff need to step up enforcing rules in these international matches ... Not sure if I'd go to another international match.

    Interesting night for soccer!

by TimmerJ on 2015-07-17BMO Field - Toronto

Was very warm and sunny for the first game, followed by rain to start the second game and then another downpour late in the second game. Can't control the weather, but as for the event: Both games were very entertaining & could have gone either way. There were some nice individual performances a few cards, even a red, and the crowd was rocking. Great support for all the teams, and even had the flares and smoke going for the Canada match. Overall was a pretty good time with a little of everything. Would have liked to have seen a few more goals though.

Great soccer, but the atmosphere could be better

by Soccerlemon on 2011-06-20Ford Field - Detroit

I enjoyed attending this game, but I was mainly sorry that the stadium wasn't sold out. Soccer is a much better spectator sport, as is any sport, when there is a great atmosphere. I think that maybe Ford Field was too big of a venue for this event.

Poor display of a professional sport

by Zadwarf on 2011-06-11Ford Field - Detroit

Both games were not the caliber of a sport in which I anticipated. The "professional aspect" of both North American teams is not at the caliber that it should be in 2011. The temporary placement of real sod for the playing turf turned out to be something that appeared to be poorly maintained. The grass outside the building was greener & more professional looking then what was placed inside. This is professional ?

    Canada loses to USA

by cdnkid on 2011-06-10Ford Field - Detroit

Tickets were too expensive. Why not sell tickets based on what country you want to sit with to create more of an experiece. Sell the tickets close to each other as everyone was scattered and it looked very empty. Put all the Canadians together and you got yourself a far better experience. Why it was 50 bucks is beyond me for a Gold Cup game.
