    Counting Crows at Caesars

by agronomics on 2010-07-09The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - Windsor

Counting Crows and Augustana make one fantastic band. The show seamlessly streamed through changes in bands by intermingling a song or two done together - each member of Counting Crows matched up with an Augustana counter part. The show lasted about 2hrs and their voices all blend together beautifully. What a great event!

    Disappointed

by CCFAN on 2010-07-09The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - Windsor

What little songs the Crows played from their albums were phenomenal. However, it was more like an Augastana concert featuring the Crows.

I have seen tonnes of shows over the years of all type of music..this was by far the best. The blending of all three bands there made the night spectacular!

    Counting Crows were AWESOME

by OttawaSteve on 2009-09-09Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - Canandaigua

The entire show was incredible, although the show only started at 8:15, and Augustana was also on stage, the Counting Crows were incredible. The show itself was good however could've had more of the Crows or started even earlier to include Augustana. ADAM Rocked it! ... the final encore of Rain King gave me shivers.

Counting Crows - worth the drive

by Neach on 2009-09-09Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - Canandaigua

We went to Canandaigua to see the final performance in the Counting Crows tour. They were touring with Augustina. The neat thing about this concert was the way they lined it up. There was no standard protocol for these guys. The concert started at about 8:15 and ended at 11:30pm with no intermissions. Both bands were on the stage for most of the night. it was a huge jam session. We drove 4.5 hours to get there and would do it again. It was fantastic.

Counting Crows Live = Immense, intense, wonderful!

by MondoCanuck on 2009-09-07Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center - CMAC - Canandaigua

We drove over 4 hours from Canada to see the Counting Crows live for the first time. Expectations were high - and they were exceeded! A wonderful venue, a wonderful late summer evening - and some of the most amazing musicians to populate a stage in a while. The pairing of the CCs with Augustana was a magical mixture that gave the evening a surreal feeling. Great tunes from both bands - including my favorite from the Crows - Speedway - which Adam told the audience was originally going to be called "I'm out of here, bitch!!"....but then, Speedway was a bit more "radio friendly"... Augustana gave the Crows a run for their money with a myriad of tunes, and intensity to boot. At over three hours long, the show was a sonic buffet of classic Crows tunes and some of their newer (i.e., 1492). The inclusion of covers from Bob Dylan and some country classics made the evening one of true musical pleasure and enjoyment. Adam's closing comments on the need for all to vote was not preachy, but rather poignant and sincere - the simple wishes from a celebrity who's heart clearly sits where the many other celebrity's hearts should sit as well. Driving almost 9 hours was totally worth it! Hope they're back in this neck of the woods soon...or maybe Canada...lots of us Crows fans up here...

    Scam

by Caitrad on 2009-08-26Hammerstein Ballroom - New York

If I had known that I was paying those almost USD 75,00 to hear 1 hour (at most) of Counting Crows, I might have still done it. Now, if I had been told that that 1 hour would be within a 4 hour concert with two other unknown bands, for which noone can charge more than USD 15,00 per ticket, I would, for sure, not have been part of it. Augustana, although the singer has an amazing voice, cannot play 10 or 12 songs in a concert. Simply because they have 1-2 songs that deserve to be played (they are too young). Same thing applies to Spearhead. We paid to see and listen to the CC. The fact that they played less than 1/3 of the show and that they gave the stage generously to a group of inexperienced friends (that is how Augustana looked like: the guitar player barely accompanied each song, while the lead guitar was... the guy from CC! same thing applies to the base player) to "do what they want" in front of the NY crowd as if we were Guinnea Pigs. This was a scam. People, if you want to go still, think of it as a kind of festival and get ready to listen to some 6-8 songs of CC. A total dissapointment. An expensive one.

    A Headliner without ego.

by CanadaDry on 2009-07-20Concerts At Marymoor - Redmond

Hats off to Counting Crows. I can't remember a time when the headliner was so interested in their supporting act. None of the usual "How about a hand for...". The Crows shared the stage generously and genuinely. To see Adam hanging around the drum kit while Augustana played, enjoying their show was great to see. Saw EWF and Chicago the next night with a similar concept but it was all rehearsed. The Crows/Augustana show came off as spontaneous and unrehearsed and more enjoyable as a result. The only reason the show wasn't a 5 star was the inclusion of a number of cover versions at the expense of "Round Here" and "Anna Begins". Bottom line is this concept has allowed me to become aware of Augustana and I will be buying their music. Well done.

Counting Crows and wine...life is great!

by kootenaygirl on 2009-07-20Maryhill Winery & Amphitheater - Goldendale

What a venue ..... I would absolutely recommend this venue to anyone (as long as the weather is good!). The Counting Crows were fabulous and put on a great show. It was well worth the 8 hour drive.

Counting Crows and Augustana were awesome!!

by Robotcan on 2009-07-17Concerts At Marymoor - Redmond

When I first heard that last night's Counting Crows / Augustana concert was going to have both bands coming on and off the stage from beginning to end I didn't think it would work. I pictured roadies scrambling around changing amps and drumsets all night with lots of white space in between. But it wasn't like that. The two bands worked seamlessly together and the harmonies and different combinations of players was creative and musically excellent. The collaboration bet ween Dan Layus and Adam Duritz was incredible. The Traveling Circus and Medicine Show concept is a great one - and it worked perfectly last night!

Great show overall, but......... maybe a bit TOO much interaction with Augustana (who were great on their own), and WHERE WAS MR. JONES & ROUND HERE??????
