I saw this the last time Dance Me came to town. I loved it so much then and couldn’t wait for its return. If you love LC and if you even just like jazz ballet, this will convert you. Dance was exquisite. Sound was perfect. Bravo!
This production of "Dance Me" was a wonderful interpretation of the poetry with the back ground music underpinning the expression by the ballet dancers of the work. I was spell bound and the audience seemed to react in a similar fashion. This superb presentation deserved the many curtain calls. The support of the dancers with the skillful lighting and sound was outstanding. Congratulations.
Loved the performance, the dancers, the music, the formate, the setting, the lighting. The choreography was brilliant at interpreting the sound and lyrics. We didn’t want it to end. We felt so uplifted after the show. Sorry it was only a one night show. Know many others who would have gone. We will certainly seek out Montreal Jazz Ballet in the future.
What a spectacular evening. Cohen’s music is wonderful and the dance was outstanding-very well choreographed and very artistic and athletic dancers. Their dancing achieved an amazing tribute to Leonard Cohen’s music and as well they cleverly maintained his presence throughout.
It was spectacular. Amazing lighting and beautiful choreography. The only thing I would change is to hear Cohen sing Hallelujah
I love Leonard Cohen's music and I have been to other ballet and jazz performances but this one seemed to be very repetitive with the dancers movements. The dancers themselves were excellent so perhaps the problem was the choreography.
We were so impressed with their dance performance plus all the great Leonard Cohen music. A performance not to be missed.
I am 81 years old and have viewed thousands of dance, music and artistic performances over the years from coast to coast in North America and in Europe. This is by FAR of THE MOST beautiful, emotionally exciting and fabulous visual displays that I have had the privilege to witness. I would see it over again if it becomes available and I get the chance. thank you BJM for a breath taking evening!!!
What a fabulous show. We were entranced and wish it had been longer. Great dancers and excellent interpretations of Leonard's music. I'm sure it would have brought smiles to his face and he would have felt honoured.
Les Ballets Jazz NEVER disappoints! I sat on the edge of my seat the whole show, soaking in the dancers’ strength and flexibility, yet dancing as if on air. The choreography was so beautiful, along with the lighting- the whole show was a spectacular reduction, and so true to the essence of Leonard Cohen and his poetry and music.

Beautiful integration between Leonard Cohen’s music/poetry and dance choreography.The dancers transmitted their inspired performance to the audience.The additional effects/stage props were creative, modern and ethereal to match the lyrics and mood.Bravo!

The show was...well, simply amazing! If you are a fan of dance and Leonard Cohen, you will love this show. If you are a fan of just one of the two, you will still love this show. Very well done. The live singing was a nice surprise. The dancing was sensual and spectacular. And, well, Leonard Cohen's music and words...what can I say. The only issue was they sold front row seats (and not cheap!!!)...and, well, the front row was a big disappointment. I mean, it was very nice to be so up-and-close, but there was a lot of action that happened on the floor of the stage and we were unable to see that at all (probably effected rows 1-4). And, even when the dancers were standing, we still could only see them from knees up at best. This was a big disappointment and the Queen E could do a better job of warning the attendees about this and/or discounting these seats in my opinion. That being said, we still really enjoyed the experience.
3rd time seeing Dance Me, 1st time in Ottawa, twice now in Vancouver. Love it. Leonard Cohen provides great musical direction for an amazing group of talented Ballet BC dancers. Seamless, sensual transitions. Koodos to the choreographer(s). Would see it again in a heartbeat.
What a wonderful performance, there was deafening silence as the music and movement went on. It was hard to find a transition place to applaud as everything flowed from one song, image, or position. There was ever shadowing of Leonard Cohen being with as he watched from the "Tower Of Song." Simple but effective use of lightening and contrasting shadows. The dancers were choreographed well and looked to be focused and multi talented as two voices came from dancers as they sang Hallelujah. The evening was about love, the love of Leonard Cohen, the love of music and each of us touched by someone.
Really enjoyed this performance. Any fan of Leonard Cohen will enjoy this, any fan of dance will enjoy this. Creative, evocative, engaging and the dancers were fantastic.
Loved the mood , the dance , the choreography and, of course, the moody, mystical, sound, and lyrics, of Leonard Cohen. Spectacular experience that I would highly recommend !!!!!
