About

Indie-soul singer/songwriter Daniel Caesar uses his exceptionally raw talent to unfold a familiar yet extraordinary coming-of-age narrative. Where boy meets manhood, Caesar's work comes to terms with the things that we so often repress. From a suburb east of Toronto, Canada, Caesar stands as an emblem of what becomes of the gospel-raised youth who mature and must eventually form their own testimony. As he breaks away from his parents faith and the path they lead, he begins to find his own way. With only a few small offerings in 2014, Caesar has been able to build a devoted and rapidly expanding following. His debut effort, Praise Break, successfully captured the attention of many major publications and outlets, was ranked in the “20 Best R&B Albums of 2014” by Rolling Stone Magazine, and number one on the “Top 10 Projects of 2014” by Noisey Canada.

    Wasn’t personal

by Ricky on 2023-10-20Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

While everything was pretty good and DCs vocals were on spot so was the band, what lacked was the personal part of it and the energy that you expect.

    Not bad

by Jp on 2023-10-19Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

GA entrance was only one gate so there was a huge line and took forever. They attempted giving numbers to organize but did not work as everyone just rushed in once the doors open. Then a second gate opened and everyone sprinted to get to the other one. Chaos ensued. Concert itself sounded great but Daniel himself seemed like he didn’t really want to be there. Had the audience sing most of his songs and did an encore song from backstage while being shown on the screen. Overall, not terrible but definitely not the best concert I’ve been to.

    Pretty good performance

by SP on 2023-10-17Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

The openers were longer than the actual performance, and it took him a long time to come out. He played really really good thought and I’m happy I went!

    Vibes

by Kiera on 2023-10-17Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

This was an amazing concert!! Although he only performed for 90 mins it was a really good show. The only part I didn’t like was him asking the crowd to sing for multiple songs… like I didn’t pay to hear the crowd sing, I wanted to hear him sing my favourite songs. Overall, I would go again because it was a really good vibe and I love his music!

    Could’ve been better

    by …. on 2023-10-17

A lot of the people at his concert including myself were very excited so when he was making us sing the songs, we didn’t really even notice bcuz we were doing it anyway. He is a very talented artist with a beautiful voice but artists understand they’re going to be on the road doing back to back shows. The fans pay hard earned money to see the artists so it’s their job to perform. It’s understandable if they’re tired but it’s not our fault. 90% of Get You was sung by the crowd. At one point he was lying down on the stage. He smiled like less than 10 times. It just didn’t seem like he wanted to be there. If an artist isn’t ready or able to go on tour for any reason it’s understandable. If they do go on tour tho, they have to give their 100% to their fans because they deserve it. Unfortunately, we live in a capitalistic society and we bought the performance, that’s just the way it is. You can’t act like you don’t want to be there when we, the fans, the consumers, are putting money in your pocket. The performance by Moses Sumney, an opener, was more intimate and energetic than Daniel’s. BADBADNOTGOOD and Charlotte’s performance was also good. The band honestly was so into it and just looked like they were having a good time. Considering the fact that he was in his hometown, we, at least I, expected him to be excited and happy I mean growing up in Toronto then performing in Scotiabank seems like a big accomplishment. One thing Daniel must understand is that his voice is not enough (the irony lol). His stage presence plays a part in his performances and I hope he understands that. One more thing, I assume that the white veil/ cloths has a meaning but the fact that Mustafa was under it for 90% of his performance on stage was disappointing. He so talented, I know he performed at the end on camera, but I wish we saw him more on stage. He can SANGGG!
