I am a huge David Blaine fan, however this was bitterly disappointing. The seats were very comfortable, the venue was beautiful, staff were very pleasant and the acoustics and visuals were fantastic.
The listed performance time was 70 mins 1st “act”, 20 min intermission, 60 mins 2nd “act”.
The show started about 15 minutes late. David performed 5 tricks in the 1st act, which totalled at about 50 mins. The tricks are always impressive, but 4/5 of them were old material that he performed on TV many years ago (he even showed the clip of many of them on the screen!)!
For the second half, he undertook just one “trick”. I will not spoil it, but he has done something VERY similar before. Although impressive, it was not original and involved us just waiting. He finished the trick then came out, sat down and undertook a Q&A. The trick was 10 minutes and this 2nd act lasted probably 30 minutes.
This show felt like a recycled performance for people that have never seen any of his work before. For the price of the ticket, we felt ripped off, with a total performance time of probably 80 minutes instead of 130.
