About

Singer, actor, film producer, and TV presenter Diljit Dosanjh is one of the most popular entertainers in India, and his global star is still rising. As an actor, Dosanjh has starred in some of the most commercially successful Punjabi movies in history (such as Jatt & Juliet, Jatt & Juliet 2, Punjab 1984, Sardaar Ji, Ambarsariya, Sardaar Ji 2, Super Singh, Sajjan Singh Rangroot, Shadaa, and Honsla Rakh). Meanwhile, as a musician, Dosanjh is known for his accessible blend of pop, Punjabi, Bhangra, hip-hop, and classic Sikh music.

Having recorded an impressive 13 studio albums over nearly two decades, Dosanjh's 2020 album G.O.A.T. went to No. 1 on Billboard's Top Triller Global chart and went Top 20 in Canada. His track "Lover," from his 2021 MoonChild Era LP, has hit more than 70 million views on YouTube.

Born in 1984 in Punjab's Phillaur tehsil, Jalandhar district, Dosanjh began his singing career by performing Kirtan (Sikh religious music) at local gurdwaras (places of worship). He released his first album, Ishq Da Uda Ada, in 2004. He released his follow-up album, Dil, that same year.

Dosanjh's breakthrough occurred when his third album, Smile, hit in 2005. It featured the tracks "Nachdiyan Alran Kuwariyan" and "Paggan Pochviyan Wale." In 2006, Dosanjh released the LP Ishq Ho Gaya, and Chocolate arrived two years later. Across the remainder of the decade, Dosanjh released a handful of singles -- "Bhagat Singh," "No Tension," "Power of Duets," and "Dance with Me" -- plus his sixth studio album, 2009's The Next Level.

By the start of the '10s, Dosanjh began to appear in a run of Punjabi films, including 2011's The Lion Of Punjab, which featured his highly successful single "Lak 28 Kudi Da." He also appeared in 2011's Jihne Mera Dil Luteya, to which Dosanjh also contributed six songs to the soundtrack. From 2012 to 2022, Dosanjh was featured in 14 more Punjab films, including Jatt & Juliet, Jatt & Juliet 2, Ambarsariya (which won him the Filmfare Award for Best Actor), Sardaarji, Sardaarji 2, Honsla Rakh, Jodi, and more.

Dosanjh has also appeared in a number of Hindi-language films, including Tere Naal Love Ho GayaUdta Punjab, Phillauri, Welcome to New York, Soorma, Arjun Patiala, Good Newwz, and Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari

In 2022, Dosanjh signed a deal with Warner Music and has been planning crossover singles with Canadian rapper Tory Lanez and Tanzanian star Diamond Platnumz.

Diljit Dosanjh says thank you a million times.

by DesiJatt on 2017-05-07Abbotsford - Abbotsford

I think Diljit doesn't really have anything to say to his fans other than thank you, after each song. Literally, no talk or mention about anything, himself, his family, his future, his thoughts, nothing. He repeated his thank you at least a thousand times that entire night. But his music was great. The stage was very professional and well above average for any desi event that occurs. The crowd is a mix of family and drunk people dying to dance in their seats. I would not recommend the floor seating again, unless you are sitting very close up front (the back seats on the floor were useless for the Abbotsford setup and you were better off being in the seats). Music got very loud for kids, I had to bring ear plugs for them. Show started very late, was scheduled for 7.30 ended up starting around 9, ended at around 11:30pm which was late for our kids. He didn't really interact with audience much, just probably entertained the people who were willing to spend apparently $1000 for a one minute meet and greet (I guess he's bigger than Drake, lol!). He definitely is sucking the $ dry as much as he can with that one. Pretty unfortunate if you ask me. Was not very impressed with his idea to give away free seats to international students.. really makes the people who paid feel ripped off. I really think he should make more effort to engage the people in the floor crowd, maybe even walk around a bit off stage, talk a bit more about himself, instead of acting as if he is going to get raped by the fans. Otherwise definitely an above average show for a desi performer in Canada.

    Not worth money

Everyone was drunk and it was more like a DJ party than a show.
