About

DIRT NASTY IN CONCERT:

Dirt Nasty, aka former MTV VJ turned rapper Simon Rex, has been keeping it dirty and flirty with his tongue-in-cheek image, off-color lyrics, and racy music videos for the past decade. In concert Dirt Nasty is all gold chains and blustering swagger, delivering raunchy rhymes with energy and attitude to spare as he bounces around the stage to bass-heavy tracks. His over-the-top persona blurs the line between music and performance art, and fans are left to wonder if he's in the rap game for real or if he's sending up hip hop stereotypes in the tradition of parody wizards like Weird Al Yankovich. Chances are it's a little bit of both, but don't think too hard about it -- just enjoy the crisp beats and catchy hooks of jams like "1980" and marvel at Dirt Nasty as he gets down with his bad self.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Simon Rex got his start modeling for brands like Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger before becoming an MTV VJ in 1995. His two-year stint at the network earned him considerable fame, leading to an acting career with roles on TV shows like Felicity and Baywatch and films like The Forsaken and Superhero Movie. In the early '00s he linked up with rapper Mickey Avalon and started the rap group Dyslexic Speedreaders, and in 2007 he made his solo rap debut as Dirt Nasty with a self-titled album. He followed up in 2011 with his sophomore album As Nasty As I Wanna Be, which featured guest appearances from music heavyweights like Warren G, Ke$ha, and LMFAO. In 2012 he formed the hip hop trio Three Loco with comedian Andy Milonakis and rapper RiFF RaFF, and the group garnered critical acclaim with a self-titled EP that featured production from Diplo. Since then Rex has been busy, releasing an album with his group The White Boys and continuing to perform as Dirt Nasty on tour alongside longtime collaborator Mickey Avalon.
