Calgary is the lively, beating heart of Alberta, making it both the province’s largest city and a major cultural hub of the West. Each July the city hosts the massive Calgary Stampede, just one of many things to do in Calgary throughout the year. Nicknamed “Cowtown” for its Western charm, the city is also a major draw for sporting events, live music and more, with events in Calgary happening downtown at the famed Scotiabank Saddledome, as well as throughout the greater Calgary area.
