  • Great Show..... But...

by Tina on 2024-11-12National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 4 out of 5

It's my 3rd time seeing Lion King on stage. It's definitely a great musical that the family will love. The set design and costumes are amazing. Fantastic story about Simba's self-discovery, and some of the greatest music you'll enjoy at the theatre. However, I felt that there were issues with the microphones of certain characters, or of the stage in general. I could barely hear some of the dialogue or singing. I felt like I had to rely on remembering what they said in certain scenes.

I took my seven year old granddaughters with me. They were in awe throughout. This is a show for all ages. I can’t think of a thing they could do differently to make it any better. Fabulous sets, music, singing, dancing, costumes, puppetry, acting. Spectacular in every way! WOW!!

This was my second time seeing it, but the first time for my daughter. Even as a tween, she was absolutely amazed and delighted by all of the experiences within the show. We were talking about it for days. We will all go again! Amazing show.

People of all ages were at this show and it was clear everyone loved it. The music, the costumes, animal engineering were gorgeous. Would strongly recommend!

  • Excellent

by Ann on 2024-11-11National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

The costuming and puppeteers were unparalleled, so amazing. The sound at the NAC, we were in row O was not good. We could not hear the words to any of the songs nor could we hear all the dialogue the actors said. The music overwhelmed the words. It could have been where we were sitting, not sure but I’ve seen other reviews saying the same thing. We missed it especially when the hyenas were on stage, we could not hear most of their banter.

  • Good show

by Ka on 2024-11-10National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 4 out of 5

Good puppetry, great show, wish they had not cut short some of the well known songs. There was a surprise hault in the show for 15 min a few minutes before the intermission. It must have been a technical issue

  • Uplifting performance

If you want to remember how it feels to be inspired, stunned and transported to a beautiful place, please go to see the Lion King. Not only is the first scene worth the price of admission but the music and the visual artistry is healing for the soul.

Now I know why this is the #1 musical. I was immersed in the Pridelands and jungle. All of the lovable characters are there. You will enjoy this musical if you like the Disney Lion King or are an animal enthusiast.

  • Entertaining show

  • A must see.

by Mr T. on 2024-11-09National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

Fantastic! This is the 3rd time seeing this show. First in Toronto on its first run back in 2000. Then twice in Ottawa. Even if you’re not a “musical” type, you still will enjoy this show. You can not help but marvel over the costumes and sets.

  • Front row sound poor

by Sandy on 2024-11-09National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 3 out of 5

Cast wonderful and costumes and set were spectacular. Our family was seated in 5th row from the front and couldn’t understand 59% of the dialogue. Background sound drowned out the voices.
