Amazing repertoire and performance. The sound quality in the theater is great as well!
One of the most beautiful game symphonies I've ever seen live. Arnie Roth did an excellent job of introducing the sections and paying homage to the Final Fantasy Series. The visuals were fun and allowed the audience to reminice to their favorite parts of games. Even though no music from Final Fantasy 12 was actually played, they made sure to include tidbits from that as well which was very kind of them.
I have started playing FFXIV just a year ago, I am not a long time FF series fan and I bought the tickets to surprise my BF who is hardcore fan. I however appreciate classical music and I thought I would like the concert myself as well. I was not wrong, they left me wanting for more . Performance was absolutely amazing! Well done!
It was an amazing experience that any Final Fantasy fan would enjoy
So worth it to see Nobuo and listen to my childhood themes!!!!
Like many, I grew up playing the Final Fantasy games and was also captivated by the music. The music has always managed to evoke a range of emotions and feelings, from despair and sadness to relief and happiness. All of this was on full show at the Distant Worlds concert, where I was able to hear some of my favourite songs played at the highest quality. The concert is definitely worth attending for those who are fans of the series' music. With such an expansive repertoire, you may not always hear your favourite song however, you'll go home valuing ever moment of the experience. Also, I was able to enjoy the show with Nobuo Uematsu sitting several seats down the aisle right in front of me!
I went to the event and expected to be fully orchestrated. I was pleasantly surprised that there were visuals to make the experience more nostalgic to many. Also it was an honour to have Susan Calloway sing as well. There was just so many surprises that couldn't help me from smiling and enjoy every performance. To even have Nobuo Uematsu come was an honour and everyone couldn't help but cheer and clap out loud haha.
I went there after listening nonstop to the past Distant Worlds concerts and was expecting it to be better than through my headset. Well, it wasn't. I expected the music would surround me like water and that I would listen to the instruments as if I was in the middle of the orchestra but it was nothing like that. From where I was seated, I could only hear the instruments from the speakers and it felt like the music was only in front of me. The show was awesome, it was great to see one one my favorite Distant Worlds' performance live(Susan Calloway - Answers) but I wanted more!!! I dunno if the accoustics of the centre was bad but was disappointed. Still, a great show!!
I will always go to see this show whenever it comes to Toronto.
The concert was absolutely phenomenal! The orchestra did a fantastic job of bringing the songs to life, visuals were great too. Setlist was a great mix of old and new.
Having been to all three of their concerts at the Sony Centre (2010, 2012, and 2014), I must say that even with the addition of Susan Calloway, this was easily the weakest of the three. There were some notable classics entries missing and conclusion of the concert felt somewhat lacklustre. Still for their 99th show, it was an enjoyable ride. The seats were incredible. And so long as they keep coming, I'll keep buying tickets to their even. (Score: 8.1/10)
Music was great! If you love Final Fantasy you must simply make it out to a Distant Worlds event.
I've always loved FF music and to hear it live was amazing! Can't wait for it to happen again!
Distant Worlds was an incredible show and I would recommend it to anyone - not just fans of Final Fantasy. It was professional, well put together, and appeased the hopes of fans. I greatly appreciate the conductor and Uematsu Nobuo for the show - they are both lively spirits and incredible people. The reason I gave four stars only (I would have given 4.5 if that was an option) is that I wish there were piano solos, because a lot of people's favorite songs are the piano pieces. Also I wish they sold more "swag" like stuffed animals and toys etc for fans.
Been waiting to see this for a good deal of my life. Not dissapointed and having Nobuo Uematsu right there, almost beside me was, along with the fantastic performance and the pieces played, one of the most wonderful experiences in my life. Thank you for bringing this to Toronto and giving me the opportunity to live it!
It was a memorable experience will have to go again!!!
Nobuo Uematsu was in attendance and played one song. I was lucky enough to have sits in front of Uematsu-san. I didn;t know most of the song's titles but I loved them all, esp. the Opera.
I took my husband to the Distant Worlds: Music From FINAL FANTASY show for his birthday as he is a fan of the games and the music and I knew he would enjoy it. Although I think I had a better time. The music was great, the atmosphere was fun and everyone had a great time!
Amazing performance and nerdfully delightful!!!!!!
