Edmonton Oilers History
The origin of the Oilers goes back to 1972, when they were one of the founding franchises of the World Hockey Association. Once the league folded in 1979, they were one of four teams absorbed into the National Hockey League. It didn't take long for them to establish dominance in the league, reeling off five Stanley Cup Championships in seven years. They are tied with the Pittsburgh Penguins for the most championships since the NHL-WHA merger.
The Oilers of the '80s were a phenomenal dynasty with a roster that reads like the Hockey Hall of Fame: Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Paul Coffey, Glenn Anderson, Grant Fuhr, Jari Kurri, plus a stellar supporting cast. Gretzky scored 92 goals in 1982, breaking Phil Esposito’s record for number of goals in a single season. He also recorded a record 215 points in 1985. During his time with the Oilers as centre and team captain, Gretzky led the team to four Stanley Cup championships (1984, 1985, 1987, and 1988). By the time Gretzky finished his time with the Oilers, he held or shared a total of 49 NHL records.
In all, the Edmonton Oilers have appeared in the Stanley Cup Final seven times.

Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place
NHL superstar Connor McDavid and NHL legends Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier opened the doors to the spectacular Rogers Place in downtown Edmonton in October 2016. McDavid and his Edmonton Oilers bring excitement to Rogers Place nightly, with the statue of The Great One standing guard just outside. The state-of-the-art Rogers Place replaced the aging Rexall Place, and resulted in an explosion of business and residential growth in downtown's ICE District.
The Edmonton Oilers’ 2023–24 regular season kicks off in October at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, when the Oilers face off against the Vancouver Canucks. The Oilers take on Alberta rivals the Calgary Flames in the 2023 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton on October 29. The team plays their final game of the regular season at home against Western Conference opponents the Colorado Avalanche. Here’s a list of key games to keep an eye on:
Tickets for the 2023–24 regular season can be purchased on Ticketmaster, the Official Ticket Marketplace of the Edmonton Oilers.
The Oilers have made seven appearances in the Stanley Cup Final, and have won the championship five times (in 1984, 1985, 1987, 1988 and 1990).

Awesome seats and atmosphere, beer was expensive though!
Was great! Awesome game.. Was up high could see everything 😉 Good energy 👌
Live in BC been to a few Canucks games, this is better. Nice brand new arena, cheap gas in Edmonton, lots of cheap parking, very affordable and an excellent atmosphere…. Well I guess especially when Edmonton is winning
I am a season ticket holder and the general fan experience at rogers place for all oilers games can be improved. The building lacks atmosphere. Being in attendance at other nhl venues this year and then coming back to watch the oilers at home is an eye opener. The atmosphere needs to be "louder" and more up-beat.
Great view and plenty of legroom. The beer was really cold and pizza was really good. The game was great
bring stanley home. the oilers are the best team ever, the flames suck
I would recommend everybody to go to a Oilers Game if you are in Edmonton. The rogers place is amazing and the whole event is a must have in Edmonton. The music, the game, the shows between the games!!!
Great game, lower bowl tickets, hard to see far end of ice, will get a little higher up next time. Awesome arena!
There was a racist guy sitting behind me and putting indigenous people down
It was great family experience. We all had an awesome time and the game was amazing. Ticketmaster APP was easy to use and everything worked flawlessly from start to finish. One of the best APP’s I have.
Great crowd, arena is perfect size, excellent good place for any event, price for food and drinks is expensive
The Edmonton Oilers game was a great time, with no hassles at all getting in with our electronic tickets on our phones.
Easy to purchase the tickets. However, when I picked the price that I wanted to pay the final price was much higher and I could not find an answer for that.
Good seats but can’t Afford them all the time wish I could afford even a discount price for season tickets but that’ll never so if I could get some winning tips on how to win 4 free tickets in 100 sections row1-10 seats 1-4 aisle seats for both Oilers and World Junior hockey in Aug/2022
Players left their best that day, awesome to see, I have a 9 year old that was not to exited at the beginning coming from a 4 hour trip to see our team he was a little tired, after a few minutes he was pumped and dancing on every move the team made, atmosphere was excellent the sound the big screens is a good combination, is expensive for us to come but we save money to be in one game every year guys, doesn’t matter if you win or loose we will be there 😃👍
There should be a indication before you buy these specific seats (sec 15 row2 seat 1&2) that there will be a cameraman obstructing practically the whole view of the game because as close and expensive as they are it was a crappy experience and not worth the money at all! Maybe if you’re 7’10” you can look over the camera but really c’mon!! You’d think in 2022 they’d have smaller cameras. Disappointed customer overall.
Games were entertaining and the staff was pleasant and accommodating. Venue is amazing to watch the best game on earth, also the seats are comfy. Fans were terrific. Music and lighting was amazing. La bamba x 2. Only complaint is the ability for a family of 4 to go on a regular basis.
I love my Montréal Canadiens and they gave me a win! I have been a fan for over 50 years. Edmonton Oilers are my second fave! All in all the fan experience was phenominal! My only disappointment was trying to load my ticket to my phone, the wifi was horrible🤨🤨 had to go to ticket sales booth and eventually had to get a printed ticket. Unfortunately i could not participate in Roger's place app😔 activities.
Coming back after a 5 game road trip, the Oilers bad plays made it a horrible game to be at. As a long time Oiler fan I was disappointed in the attitude and hoped they would improved in the next game against Calgary. Unfortunately that was another giveaway thanks to our million dollar man Darnel Nurse. Hope Ken Holland brings in some real character players and we build up chemistry
-very poor drink choices -broken scoreboard screen -oilers lost to a team they shoulda beat -bad staff attitudes -not enough washrooms for guests -shut down casino and restaurants -did I mention bad staff attitudes? -not very kid friendly
