About

ELECTRIC WIZARD IN CONCERT:

For more than two decades British doom metal collective Electric Wizard has been thrashing fans with concerts that aren't for the faint of heart. The band administers a heavy dose of crushing darkness with morbid grooves, sludge metal elements, and dark lyrics exploring things like witchcraft and black magic. Led by guitarist and vocalist Jus Oborn the fearsome trio plows through crowd favorites like "Dopethrone", "Black Mass", and "Return Trip". Oborn's sneering vocals, Clayton Burgess' grinding bass, and Simon Poole's hard-hitting drums add up to decibel-shattering shows that always get ticket buyers headbanging their hearts out. Hot off the heels of 2014's Time To Die -- their first album in four years and eighth overall -- the band hits the road in 2015 for their first full US tour in more than a decade.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Former Eternal and Lord of Putrefaction frontman Jus Oborn formed Electric Wizard in Dorset, England in 1993. The band -- named after the Black Sabbath songs "Electric Funeral" and "The Wizard" -- signed to Rise Above Records in 1995 and released their self-titled debut album the same year. In 1997 they added stoner and sludge elements to their sound with the fan favorite album Come My Fanatics..., followed by 2000's Dopethrone. After 2002's more experimentally-driven Let Us Prey, the band embarked on a tour of North American and the UK tour alongside doom metal band Cathedral. In 2003 original members Mark Greening and Tim Bagshaw left to form Ramesses and a new lineup was introduced, including guitarist Liz Buckingham. The new iteration of the band released 2007's Witchcult Today and 2010's Black Masses. In 2014 Electric Wizard formed Witchfinder Records -- an imprint of Spinefarm Records -- and thrilled fans with their long-awaited eighth album, Time To Die.
