BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

DeGeneres' career began as an emcee at a local comedy club in her hometown of New Orleans. Her acting career in television included roles in several successful sitcoms before being offered a part on "These Friends of Mine" by ABC. Following the first season, the show was renamed "Ellen." Running from 1994 to 1998, the show garnered record ratings with DeGeneres receiving Primetime Emmy nominations each season in the Best Actress category. Earlier this year, with the help of her wife Portia de Rossi, DeGeneres established The Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund, which supports global conservation efforts for critically endangered species. The first initiative of the fund is to build The Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. The campus will permanently secure the future of wild gorillas in Rwanda by building on successful field conservation efforts, while empowering the people living near the gorillas to thrive in relationship to their own ecosystem. This project gives Ellen the opportunity to carry on the legacy of her hero, visionary scientist Dian Fossey, joining her as a protector and champion of the critically endangered mountain gorilla. DeGeneres has also brought awareness to the anti-bullying issue by creating a PSA titled, "Be Kind." Overall, "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" has raised over $50 million for various causes, including global warming and breast cancer awareness.

I'm extremely disappointed. It was more of an advertisement for her upcoming Netflix gig then anything else, save your money.

It wasnt what we expected after we paid dearly ($500) each for the tickets. It was very short and we would have preferred a lighter evening

Disappointed I paid 300 to listen to corporate people promote themselves for a hr. I was told the show was suppose to be done at 10. Ellen was only on for 50 minutes. I flew from London Ontario to see her. My dream fit 15 yrs plus. If it wasn't for Ellen I would have left before she came on.

Ellen Degeneres in Vancouver - Oct 19, 2018

by ABAB on 2018-10-24Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Ellen is wonderful - she is fantastic to listen to but she was barely on stage for an hour, prior to this there was an hour of other people enthusiastically praising themselves as sponsors, Ellen as being a wonderful human being and thanking everyone and anything until it got a little tedious - and then when we thankfully reached the point that she was finally about to come on stage they showed a video ... it was like constant here she is ... and then someone else appeared. The host that "chatted" with Ellen was so devoted and enthusiastic it got a bit much - his questions seemed to get longer and longer leaving her less and less time to do what we had all come to hear - chat. And then some questions were not answered because she kept telling us that they were covered by her upcoming Netflix special and didn't want to talk about them. I am very happy I saw her, I was up on a balcony front row but really I didn't actually see her other than on the big screen - she was a long way away - but the time she was on stage was great. Lot of money for not an awful lot of Ellen time. Wish there had been more of her. Don't be put off by my review - she's great - but it's a brief thrill.

While we love Ellen, we expected her to be on the stage longer than 55 minutes for the $232 for each ticket that we bought. Did not care for all the sponsers talking before hand. A little disappointed.

Wasn't sure what to expect but definitely wanted to make sure I didn't miss Ellen. I wish I did. Don't get me wrong, I love Ellen but didn't realized she was just getting interviewed. The questions were ones that if you watch her shows, you would know the answers to. Would have been much better if it was hosted by her. Way too many CEOs talking, to the point where the crowd was almost booing. The band was ok, but I have never heard of him and when you associate a band with Ellen, you would think they would be someone you have heard of or someone she had found who is up and coming. It was also ridiculously short. Hope some of our ticket money went to charity because it was extremely over priced for less than an hour of seeing Ellen.

Ellen was amazing...just too short a show

by LittleOneFromElsewhwre on 2018-10-24Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Ellen was amazing, but for the amount we paid, it was disappointingly amtoo short a show. Too many other speakers and singers, which took up half of the time. We were very disappointed in how short a time that’s ellen was on stage.

Board of trade convention not Ellen show.

    by MickeyZzz123 on 2018-10-23Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Felt like a board of trade promo conference more than an Ellen show. Big fail on show format and unprepared interviewer. Very disappointing for the price of tickets.

    A "Conversation" With Ellen DeGeneres

by easysilence on 2018-10-23Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Bottom Line: Ellen was great, the Moderator was bad! Asking generic questions (that anyone who has watched even a few episodes of her talk show would know most of the answers)
