  • Folk Metal Madness!

by VikingMatt on 2014-10-11Rickshaw Theatre - VANCOUVERRating: 5 out of 5

This show was absolutely phenomenal. A truly excellent example of how folk metal can be musically diverse and still very heavy. The opening band Metsatoll are absolutely world class and are wonderfully unique. Tyr surprised me with how strong their set was (I am not usually a fan) and they really focused on epic songs. Eluvietie are very polished and delivered their highlight tracks seamlessly. Very very fun and not a moment wasted.

  • WINTERSUN was out of this world !!!!!

by CrystalDeath on 2012-12-15The Opera House - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I went to see one band and one band only.. Truly an unforgettable night and one that'd I'd wish to relive one day once more .. When I first heard Wintersun was on their way to starting a North American tour I knew I was in for something amazing .. I hope they come back on Time II tour here to Toronto , it'd be amazing to see them next year again!! \m/

The event was perfect- as usual! Folk metal at its finest!

  • ROAR!

by asldfkjalsdfkjadslfkjas on 2012-12-10West End Cultural Centre - WinnipegRating: 4 out of 5

Enjoyed all three bands. It's a shame Varg couldn't have had more stage time, and Wintersun a bit less (sorry, Wintersun just didn't do it for me like the others did). Eluveitie absolutely killed once they came on, what a great show -- but they need a bigger stage for 8 people!

  • Wintersun was freakin' AMAZING!!

by KJJTW on 2012-12-10West End Cultural Centre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

I had never heard Varg or Eluveitie before this concert... Varg was actually pretty good! and the guitarist with the dreads was pretty awesome. Eluveitie wasn't too bad, although I definitely wouldn't listen to them on my own time. Wintersun is the reason I bought the ticket and I was definitely not disappointed!! They were so incredible! I would definitely go see them again and again and again etc... overall, a great experience.

  • Can't go wrong with some European Metal

by Metalmaniac on 2012-12-10West End Cultural Centre - WinnipegRating: 4 out of 5

This show was pretty sweet. Varg played pretty early but from what I saw they were good. Wintersun had a really good set, playing songs spanning their whole career. Their guitar playing was quite unreal and they played a respectably long set for an opener. Last but not least Eluveitie played an awesome show. I wasn't too sure how the band might sound with so many classic instruments (flutes, violins, hurty-gurty etc.) but they were miced up really well and the sound guy did a fantastic job of making sure that everybody came through the mix loud and clear. Not your standard metal show that's for sure, but you will not be disappointed at all. Lots of value for your dollar here.

  • Was do much fun!

by Boo1981 on 2012-12-10West End Cultural Centre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

All the bands were entertaining and everyone on stage looked happy to be there! I would definitely pay to see Eluvietie again!

Elvuvietie were fantasitc. It was crazy seeing so many memebers on such a tiny stage. Had 8 opening bands though, which was WAY too many. Show started at like 4 Pm

Great selection of various European metal acts on display. All 5 bands interacted well with crowd and ALESTORM took over the night with their crowd pleasing show! Head liners ELUVEITIE brought out a killer set, with songs from their recent, acoustic-based album along with one brand new track on their forth coming new album. Only sad note was the mixed was horribly set; too much guitar (where tone and high ends were way too high) and vocals were too low in the mix.

  • trashing hot!

by beedge on 2009-11-05The Opera House - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

the venue is a blast - no chairs, great space in front of the stage, grimy baroque decor - no better scene for heathen rage. Alestorm bucaneers raved some scottish drinking songs into metal and made the crowd pop out of their pants. Some guys were wearing scottish skirts anyway. apart from some technical glitches that interrupted the flow of the evening, high five. Or high horny two, in this case!
