Coachella sized sound beyond Orpheum
by Ditavonbossypants on 2013-10-23The Orpheum - VancouverRating: 2 out of 5The latest offering doesn't match their strong showing a few years ago. But after a glimpse of the EoS stage presence at Coachella 2011, I wanted to capture that feeling again. Alas, you cannot go back.
Their sound has outgrown the Orpheum. Think of a Broadway musical version of Tron with a stellar combination of confetti and pride parade, six degrees of hipsters, and sound suited for a night club rather than old lady dress-up theatre. Post encore, my hearing returned after 5 minutes, so I'm not that old. Yet.
We were in the dress circle left, wondering if the balcony would collapse over the patrons below.
If you want to be surrounded by bright lights, so loud that it rattles your chest cavity and internal organs sound, saggy denim assed hipster hip shakes, and atari inspired images of brain scans, this is it. If you like 2-3 songs like me, then I'm not sure $20 per song is necessarily worthwhile.
