FC Cincinnati History

FC Cincinnati officially became the league's 24th team in 2018 and began play the following year. The team found their footing under head coach Pat Noonan, who guided Cincinnati to their first winning regular season record and playoff berth in 2022. Despite a resounding first round win with two goals from team captain Luciano Acosta and All-Star forward Brandon Vázquez, Cincinnati fell to the Philadelphia Union, 1-0, in the Conference semifinals.

Cincinnati posted its most successful season in 2023. The club collected its first Supporters’ Shield for the best regular season record, while Acosta became the first player to earn the league MVP honors as a member of Cincinnati. In the 2023 MLS Cup playoffs, Cincinnati advanced to the Conference Finals before ultimately falling to the eventual champions, the Columbus Crew..

FC Cincinnati at TQL Stadium

FC Cincinnati played their inaugural game at their official home, TQL Stadium, on May 16, 2021, with a match against Inter Miami CF. TQL Stadium has a capacity to host 26,000 soccer fans, but only 6,000 fans were in attendance for the club's first game there due to COVID-19 protocols.
