Perfect Day, Perfect Festival

On Saturday June 8th Arts and Crafts Records celebrated their 10th Anniversary with an excellent show at the Historic Fort York in Toronto. Big kudos go out to Arts and Crafts for a superb job organinzing this amazing event. From entry to exit and all parts in between it was evident that not one detail was overlooked. The flow of traffic between stages was excellent, the art installations were delighful and the food vendors were scrumptious, with over 30 on hand, the only problem was not been able to try them all. Now how about the music? I arrived shortly after 400pm and plonked the family down at the Garrison Commons stage just before 500pm to catch Bloc Party. There was a huge crowd present and all on hand were treated to 40 minutes of high energy, raw, raukus rock n roll from the British Dance rock act. A nice little cover/intro to Flux of the Calvin Harris ft. Rihana hit We found love was a nice little touch and ode to the scottish dj/producer who recently won an Ivor Novello award. Up next were Stars, and it should be mentioned that the band change overs went over without a hitch or delay. They launched into the 80's retro inspired "The Theory of Relativity", getting people up and dancing. The band were on point as they made their way through 11 of their most popular tracks finishing off with the Anthemic "Hold on when you get love...". First time seeing these guys live and I have to say it was well worth the price of admission. Feist hit the stage next, and she did not dissapoint, an excellent homecoming performance. Having brought my three kids with us, when Feist launched into an excellent cover of the NIna Simone classic "Sealion Woman" we had to unfortunately make our way out, as it was too much excitement for our exhausted kids. We missed Broken Social Scene, but had an excellent time none the less. What a great day!!
