Great night. Great show. Great venue. Only down fall is it ended an hour early, Gary needed a third hour.
What Gary Clark Jr. has done over the past five years, and probably longer, is honed his live performance into something truly remarkable. Watching the evolution of his live shows over the last five years has been like watching the forging of a Japanese sword as each song has been worked, reworked and refined, the showmanship perfected and an entire set shaped into something as precise and uniquely crafted as one of those sharpest and strongest of blades. It literally has to be seen and heard to believe how good he is. The Fillmore West is an amazing venue. Sound is exceptional and good viewing angles from all directions. It earns and keeps its designation as an historic concert hall every night.
Worth every penny. One of the most soulful performers out there.
The Danforth music hall is one of the best places anywhere to see a concert. We were able to stand in the second row for the entire concert. It was great. The venue was full. Gary played for almost 2 hours. Finished with the Beatles cover "come together". Gary has the complete package - guitar skills, voice and charisma.
I was blown away by the live performance, I think it even sounds better and more soulful in person. GC Jr connected with the fan during the entire show.
TRUELY amazing, Only knew one song (Church) before this concert and I was totally blown away by his talent and ability to be one with the guitar and the crowd. Reminded me so much of SRV and Jimi H and how he became part of the guitar. PLayed for a long time and keep everyone on edge with his show. I would 1000% see him again as by and far does Austin Texas Blues a real honour. A real mix of slow and fast and you will enjoy it trust me.
Saw Gary Clark Jr a few times and on this evening he killed it!!! Amazing!!! Non stop energy and that guitar playing cannot be beat. He accompanies himself with a great band to boot. Kudos to all.
Terrific show . One of the best guitar players I’ve ever seen .
If you want to see one of the best guitar players around then Gary Clark Jr should be on your list of must see's.
Awesome show by Gary however did not care for his opening act.
Amazing - wasnt overly familiar with all his music but great artist - glad I got to see him in this setting.
Clearly, I don't share the popular opinion. I wanted to like this show but I found his interaction with the crowd annoying and off-putting. I'll admit that he is a good guitar player but his ego was way too big for the stage. Overall I was never impressed with the performance so I left halfway through the show. The one thing I'm thankful for was being introduced to Black Pistol Fire, Clark's opening act. Those guys were amazing and I would definitely recommend seeing them live if you have the chance.
Set a reminder if this soulful guitar player ever comes on tour your way....he does not disappoint. I was fortunate enough to be front and center for his electrifying performance. His slow soulful ballads, powerful rock renditions, and way beyond his years rythmic blues leave no doubt that this guy has skills rivaling the likes of BB King and Buddy Guy. Don't let his cool, calm demeanor fool you; when he releases you will feel every note in his voice, every chord strummed from his guitar, or every pitch echoed from his harmonica. The band collectively play off each other and have a sound that works magically together. I purchased guitar picks in the hopes that by some miracle I can emanate his sound....wishful thinking...
It was an amazing night of tremendous guitar, soul, blues and rock music! Gary Clark Jr. absolutely has it going on. When Eric Clapton extends an invitation to the Crossroads festival that is an obvious sign of greatness!! Clark Jr. is probably one of the only musicians that would have the nerve to have Black Pistol Fire open a show. They were also electric, an amazing surprise! Just rocked the house. Gary Clark Jr. is a never miss for me and my 20 year old son. Enjoy!
First time, I thought he was great and would recommend show to anyone who loves blues!!
Love this guy and his unreal guitar skills. Funky, Bluesy and Rocks Hard!
What a fantastic show!!! I'm so glad I went. He is such a talent. Had me wrapped around his finger from start to finish.
The guy killed it, I've never seen anyone shred as much as Gary did while keeping the crowd into it. 100% would see again
Amazing show. Venue was perfect for this type of concert. The opening act Black Pistol Fire was intense and so amazing. and Then Gary Clarke Jr, was sexy, entertaining and intoxicating in his music.
Yes you should see Gary Clark Jr!! BUT the sound at the venue was not great. After seeing Gary Clark Jr previously we were a bit annoyed that the sound at humphreys did not showcase the same greatness
