Review of Le Balcon This is the second time we go to Le Balcon. It is a unique intimate venue in an old church and quite a nice experience. The first show we went to was a solo singer and we enjoyed it greatly. Yesterday's show was "Habana Nights". It started with a single singer and his guitar and soon after, song by song, he introduced a new instrument and musician: piano, drums, saxophone, electric bass. By then, these were 5 musicians playing the loudest they could in a confined place that has no appropriate acoustics. Hell!!!! We mercifully left at the intermission and on the way out managed to exchange some words with the sound engineer who was as frustrated as we were as he apparently was not able to turn their speakers down. Conclusion: go to Le Balcon, they have nice shows, but bring some cotton ear plugs just in case! To Le Balcon: Habana Nights was an acoustic assault on the ears; please try to control the sound better.
