HFX Wanderers FC History

HFX Wanderers FC is a professional soccer club in the Canadian Premier League (CPL). Based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the Wanderers were founded in 2018 and have finished in the top half of the table three times, including a team-best third-place finish in 2023. Outside of the CPL, HFX made back-to-back appearances in the quarterfinals of the Canadian Championship tournament in 2021 and 2022. The club’s roster has included two Golden Boot recipients, one CPL Player of the Year, one Coach of the Year and nominations for Goalkeeper and Defender of the Year. In 2023, HFX posted their best regular season record with 11 wins, nine draws and eight losses.

The Wanderers Grounds, known to fans as The Kitchen, is a 6,500-seat stadium in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and home to HFX Wanderers FC. The pitch is part of Halifax Common, Canada’s oldest urban park. It has hosted sporting events for over a century. In 2018, the area was renovated to construct a professional soccer stadium where the Wanderers played their first season later that year. In 2023, the Wanderers played their first playoff match at The Wanderers Grounds against Pacific FC. HFX fans have led the Canadian Premier League in attendance for three consecutive seasons between 2021 and 2023.

    The soccer was awesome but the food venue is not so much highly priced and unorganized no one knew what line to be in and we waited in line (20 minutes plus) just to find out they were out of the one thing my grandson wanted so perhaps they could yell out to line of 50 plus people when they are out of out something. And put more space between the two trucks.

    We had a fantastic evening. Very entertaining. The crowd was electric. Staff was very helpful and cheerful. We will definitely be attending another game and will recommend to our family and friends to attend a game. I had a little bit of a problem with ticket master. Thanks for a great evening out!!

    Took my wife and 8 year old soccer fan of a kid to see the Wanderers. Enjoyed the game tremendously, wife did as well and she doesn’t like sports. My son was overjoyed. Only issue we had was the seating. Super uncomfortable. Otherwise great experience

    Took my young grandson to Wanderers game on 8th. We loved it, despite drizzle. Players were just great after ~ came out to sign autographs and chat with kids.
