Both my husband and I thought the original Globe Trotters team were much better entertainment.
I have for some 40 years known about the Harlem Globetrotters and the tricks that they perform. I believe in watching them that all the tricks performed could be completed in about 15 minutes. So dragging out the performance was not only boring but a waste of time. Recommend watch you tube for 15 minutes.
My kids, who are not basketball or sports-fans by any means, really enjoyed the show. The players were giving of their time in the autograph session after the game which was out kids favourite part. Highly recommend!
Fun to watch, crowd was full of enthusiasm The players were engaged and extremely patient signing autographs.
I bought meet and greet passes for son for his 13th birthday and it didn’t happen due to poor planning and disorganization with all staff Harlem Globetrotters and Rogers Place. He is so disappointed, we arrived early and we were told 6 stories of where to go and what time it will happen I will not recommend them or paying for extra passes at the rogers place for an event.
They couldnt read a room an tell that they where losing the crowd. The so called game was so bad iv seen 5th grade plays with better acting. Like your being paid to be there at least look like your enjoying yourself instead of looking like a half dead npc. Will never attend again was hoping to have great night with my son but no.
It was too put on.Too fake.I definitely would not go again. The one thing I did like was the ball handling by the woman.Very impressive
I felt it was too put on .Too fake.I definitely wouldn’t go again
I attended the show in Saskatoon with my 5 yr old daughter. We had a blast. I really enjoyed the true showmanship, live commentary and crowd interaction through the performance. Big E and Globie are legends and it was good to see them out. We especially appreciated the player interaction and autograph period afterwards. The players are showmen (and show women) on and off the court! The Globetrotters were a memorable experience when I first saw them as a child and I’m sure they will be a lasting memory for my daughter! Thank you
The show itself was great and entertaining. My 12 year old had a great time. I will say though that the money spent on the celebrity court pass was a complete waste of money. It was supposed to be a 1:1 experience to meet and greet with players and only a couple players briefly came over and snapped a couple photos. The kids mostly just stood there awkwardly in the middle of the court. Wouldn’t pay for that again and don’t recommend it to others.
This was a fun event for my kids (age 8 and 5). They thought it was funny, had cool tricks and they got a souvenir basketball to take home. Parking was convenient and we didn’t have to wait too long to get out after the show
What a great experience. If you like comedy and basketball it’s a must see show!
It was so fun! They even go some children involved! All their tricks were so amazing too! I would definitely go again!!
It was ok, the HGT didn’t seem to be at their best. Missed a lot, a lot of their trick shots and their passes. It seems they used to be much better, much more accurate. The weave, from up in the stands didn’t look that impressive and should be spread out much further so fans in the stands can get the full effect. I think the show needs more pizazz, more comedy. I was disappointed that the HGT didn’t wear their signature stripped shorts etc.
Only complaint is that it could've been a little longer
The event was amazing!! Great prices, awesome entertainment and a very family focused show! Would definitely go again if they came back. My whole family enjoyed it. I love how they interact with the crowd as well.
I give this event/experience a 5 stars. My two boys (9 and 12) had an excellent time and loved the show. We also took part in the Magic Pass experience, before the game - which was worth the extra money, and really added to the overall enjoyment of the show. The show kept my boys laughing and entertainment the whole time. I must say though, after 30 years the show has changed quite a bit - I saw the Globetrotters in 1988 and the show now compared to back then is very different. Today, the show is a combination of a slam dunk aerial contest (nearly every other play down the court involves a slam dunk), plus incredible 4-point and logo - shots from way outside the arc...truly impressive. The offensive action great...my boys loved it...but I have to admit, when they asked me why each team wasn't playing any defense I couldn't answer the question. Clearly, this is not in any way, shape or form, a basketball game...there is no defense whatsoever...no attempt at defense...it's an all out display of offensive capabilities that are show-stopping and eye-catching! You get a little acting, and drama thrown in on the side, with characters and "funny stuff" going on that is kid-appropriate. So, 5 stars...a great show...and Magic Pass is well worth it. Thanks.
I watched few videos before attending the the show in Ottawa and was expecting to see a basketball game with some cool tip and trick challenges but I quickly realized that it was more a kids funny show with some cool tricks here and there but not too much. If you have kids below 9-10 years old they will like it but older then that they will be a bit disappointed.
This was my fifth time seeing the Harlem Globetrotters, the first time being in 1989. They always entertain no matter what but here's where I would like to see some improvements. We'll start at the beginning. I purchased the tickets through ticketmaster which was super smooth and user-friendly. There was a meet 'n' greet prior to the game for those who paid $25 to do so. That's great but takes away from the thrill of seeing them for the first time when they burst onto the scene. When they made their grand entrance afterwards, I didn't have the usual tears in my eyes. Firstly they had recently changed their uniforms. Instead of the effervescent, uplifting blue colors with hints of red and white, they came out in black. So many children and fans were wearing original Harlem Globetrotter apparel so you can imagine the disappointment. Secondly, I want to hear their theme song, 'Sweet Georgia Brown,' loud and clear but I couldn't because the DJ cranked the base up too high. I loved the music throughout the evening and base is generally great but when they make their entrance, you have to hear the awesome infectious whistles from 'Sweet Georgia Brown.' The players were GREAT! Bulldog shot three 3-pointers in a row. The slam dunks were amazing, they played better than the last 3 times I'd seen them. I would have loved to see more mischief. Example, throwing fake water at the referee and audience, teasing the referee even more, playing more tricks. Less volunteers from the audience would be appreciated. We all dread seeing members of the audience go to the court and all breathe a sigh of relief when they sit back down. I know that audience involvement is tradition but it should be limited! 3 is too much. Humble opinion. They should 'keep it light' like they did in the olden days. I know Curly Neal's death was a major loss for the Globetrotter community so I found that tribute to him great! I loved the Snoop trotter video guest starring Snoop Dogg. Granny Globetrotter was just ok but a little much at times. The Globy and Big G mascots were absolutely great! Big G put on ana brief but excellent performance. Loved seeing Spider climb up the net. They should beware of performing the same tricks multiple times as most audience members are returning fans and have watched many-a YouTube video. I'll always love them and can't wait to see their next game!
The HGT put on a great show at the Canadian Tire Center. My 6 year old grandson and I had a great time. The players are very talented, engaging and entertaining. I saw the show when I was an young athlete, I brought my children and I loved how the show has evolved and is more inclusive. The sound system could have been better and the use of the jumbo video screen to showcase the talent should have been used. The concession lines were unacceptable suspect that is the responsibility of the CTC and they should be embarrassed. Hosting the HarlemGlobe Trotters on a smaller venue should be considered.
