  • Harlem Globetrotters was great entertainment

by Anonymous on 2013-03-24Credit Union Place - SummersideRating: 5 out of 5

My daughter and I went to see the show Friday night. We loved everything about it. It was very funny and entertaining. My daughter was able to get almost everyone's autograph and is still talking about the show. Can't wait to see them again.

  • New Globetrotters were not what I remember

by DadAndSonAtTOShow on 2013-02-23Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Overall, I enjoyed the show with my son. But he's pre-teen, and it's really geared for younger kids. As my son is a decent BBall player, he's been asking to see the Globetrotters for about a year and a half, since he found out about them. I remember how amazing the original Globetrotters were, so I wanted to share that with him. The new team tries and puts on a good show, especially for the younger kids. Mechandising was a bit over the top. I definitely do NOT recommend the Magic Pass pre-show event. For $20 extra for each attending family member, they advertise (aggressively with multiple email reminders) that you can join the Globetrotters on-court, shoot hoops with them, learn tricks, and get autographs and photographs. I thought it would be really cool for my son to mill around the court with the players, taking shots, speaking with them and learning tricks. Instead, they ate a few start-up minutes introducing themselves, then explained very sternly that we are allowed to line up at each station, and must walk off-court to the line-up for the next station. There were 6 stations: two of each. The "learn tricks" station was a line where the player spun the ball on his/her finger, then transferred it to the kid's finger, so you could take a photo. My son didn't get it right, and adults in line were taking their turns, so I offered my turn to my son to try it again. The player complained quietly to my son that I was holding up the line. The autograph/photo station was a line-up to take a photo with a Globetrotter, and get his autograph. We were told sternly during the introduction that this was the only station you were allowed to ask for an autograph during the pre-show. A photographer took your photo, and gave you a card with info to get the photo on-line. I expected to have to pay for the photo, but then thought about how little we were getting for the extra $20 each, and thought they could easily give us this download for free. I was right the first time: $18 for a 5x7, and it went up from there. The "Shoot hoops" station was a line-up to take a shot, and have a Globetrotter pass it back to you. The half-hour ran out before we made it more than half-way up this line. Most of the players left the court immediately at the 30-minute buzzer, and any kids left behind taking shots with their souvenir balls were asked to leave the court over the loudspeakers. The players at the "tricks" station stayed behind for a few minutes to try to see a few more kids, which was great to see.

  • Great Show!

by Renaaa on 2013-02-18Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

I enjoyed seeing the Harlem Globetrotters last Thursday night very much! I had an awesome time and was super entertained throughout the whole show. Meeting the team was also incredible for me. I'd go back if I could. Thanks so much to the two teams and to Roger's Arena for making this possible!

  • A little underwhelming

    by FamilyMan4KidsandCounting on 2013-02-16Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

I took my three oldest children for a treat, and the show did not disappoint, except when it did... I remember the tricks being excellent, and I don't think this show translated well to a large arena. There was an awful lot of crowd drumming, and my youngest was very concerned that "only the best seats got to participate" in the audience volunteer sections. Also, when doing tricks and such the game clock kept running, limiting the amount of time we actually spent watching the team. Finally, we had the "second string" cast, not players like "Big Easy." The kids did have a good time, though - I would have loved this show at $10 LESS per ticket.

  • Harlem Globe Trotters -- Wow!

    by CHUCKit2ME on 2013-02-16Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Although I was disappointed in my seat location, I was truly wowed by the show. Very funny, talented, athletic and totally entertaining family fun. I will be going back the next time they are in town.

  • like a sheep.....baaaaaaad

by bball on 2013-02-16Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

I can only say that I felt bad for the Globetrotters...when you take that many long range shots and make so very few its probably not a good idea. It looks bad. The 4 point thing is not very impressive becasue thats all they did. Might as well have put 4 people on each of the green stickers and made a contest out of it. For the young young kids its fine. The dialogue and slapstick humor was good. Just seems like something is missing in the overall performance...jmo

  • Great show as usual

by TamnRy on 2013-02-16Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

This is our 2nd time to see Harlem Globetrotters. A little deflated this year with the Magic Pass pre-show. There's wasn't much magic to it. Got to see a few players up front for pics, but that was about it. I love the way they pick kids out of the audience though add them into the game and entertainment between periods - they are great with the little ones and always so fun. This is why I always get front row seats. Will certainly go again, but will probably opt for a closer location next time.

  • Globetrotter's funny game

by Lolafun on 2013-02-16Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

My 5yr old enjoyed the game and all the silly gags... Was good family entertainment, good time was had...

  • Globetrotters devliver poor value

by ChickenPlucker on 2013-02-16Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 1 out of 5

The Globetrotters delivered extremely poor value for the money spent. We had great seats first row on the floor but that's where the greatness ended. The show was poorly done. I understand that they are trying to cater to children for the most part but it bordered on being cheesey. The sound system was terrible and most of the time you couldn't understand that was being said. I did not realize beforehand that the Globetrotters have 3 different "teams" playing at any given moment in North America. I cant help but wonder of we had the "b' or "c" team in Vancouver. The whole experience was nothing like the promotional videos advertised.

  • Globetrotters were awesome!

    by London68 on 2013-02-16Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Great family fun, thoroughly entertaining! The show ran without any glitches. It's a well organized event. Kept everyone entertained throughout the entire show. Looking forward to seeing it again.

  • Harlem Globetrotters a treat

by HHRH on 2013-02-16Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Bought the tickets for my grandsons as Christmas gift and that turned out to be a great idea. They absolutely loved it. The Globetrotters have great talent as well as great attitude and I loved the family atmosphere. I had seen them when I was a teen and they are as good as ever, Get tickets next time and have a great and not too expensive evening out that you can feel really good about.

  • Funny

by Anonymous on 2013-02-16Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

Entertaining for younger kids. A bit dull for teenagers and adults.

  • Harlem Globetrotters was amazing!

by Proudmamabear on 2013-02-13Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

It was just good family fun. The music was great-got me rocking!

  • Fun filled afternoon!

by Ebees on 2013-02-12Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

My father and I attended this event (I'm 26 and he's 56!) and we had a blast! It was super entertaining and interactive and it was indeed a fun filled afternoon!

  • what a blast

by Anonymous on 2013-02-12Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

We took our kids (5 and 7) and their grandparents to see the Globetrotters this weekend and everyone had a blast. We got my wife and her father (it was for his birthday) magic passes with the kids and this was a great experience for the kids. My only complaint was that the magic passes entered only through gate 5 but this was not made clear on the tickets and since our tickets had us entering at gate 11 we had to hurry to the other side of the venue to get in and only found this out because I went to the ticket booth to ask. This needs to be rectified for the future

  • Family Good TImes

    by TorontoFan1 on 2013-02-12Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I've been to allot of these stadium family events, and most are overly commercial and kind of gross, but the Globetrotters was different. The show was great and I didn't feel taken advantage of and asked to buy crappy souvenirs at every moment (yes I'm talking about you Disney...) It was hilarious (for ALL ages), and totally worth the ticket price. Would do again in a heartbeat!

  • Globetrotters sadly lacking in talent :(

    by bsj94 on 2013-02-12Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

The whole point of the Harlem Globetrotters is that great mix of talent and humour. I'm sorry to say that the basketball skills are simply not there and the humour is diminished by that lack of talent. Their ability to make those difficult shots was embarrassing. Many attempts were made from various distant points on the court and from various angles. Not one was successful. There really seemed to be a lack of creativity as well. The 'opposing' team could have been made to seem maybe more 'evil' and devious, so that we could get behind the Globetrotters. But as it was, they simply ran around trying to get the ball and scoring occasionally. In these tough times, I believe a great institution like the Globetrotters needs to step up to the creative plate and bring in some fresh talent and ideas if they want to survive. We had fun, and that's what it's all about. For that we are giving it 2 stars.

  • it was ok

by izzymabs on 2013-02-12Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

There were more than a few funny parts. I was pretty disappointed by all the missed shots, including some easy shots. I would've like to see more tricks, majority of the show was made up of the three man weave, and a whole lot of dunks. I would only recommend these tickets to somebody who wants to watch a comedy, rather than what I initially thought it was, a showcase of basketball tricks. On a positive note, my 3 year old daughter, thought it was pretty funny considering that she's not really into basketball.

  • Harlem Globetrotters Never Fail to Entertain!

    by KB74 on 2013-02-12Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Our kids (5 and 7) laughed the entire time. My wife and I also had a blast. I saw the Trotters about 30 years ago, and the magic is still there. We also opted for the pre-game Magic Passes ($20 each), and we got to go on the floor and meet some of the players and get photos and autographs. We got to shoot a basket, and they helped us with the trademark spinning basketball. The setup at Rogers Centre was great. We were in the corner, in the second row of the stadium seats (not on the floor). It was excellent value, and a great view of the action.

  • Globetrotters don't disappoint!

by Kittyhawke on 2013-02-12Rogers Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Great time as always - my son is 11 and he loves it! I think its entertaining for all ages! Worth the trip!
