Very talented players but socially unacceptable!

by 23236 on 2010-04-10Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex - Kitchener

I was extremely thrilled about this event and upon arrival I enjoyed the beginning tricks and talent. The Harlem Globetrotters have very talented ball players. Therefore, the talent I would give five stars. However, it's the added entertainment that I give only 2 stars.I believe that "Special K" was slightly over the top... he yelled way too much, was really funny (he just talked loud) and was quite rude, especially when he told one of the volunteer children not to eat dinner (the child did not fit into the jersey he had won). I know Special K was just trying to be funny but the child did not seem too impressed and this is not something that should be reflected as appropriate, especially with so many children in the audience and with bullying at school already being such a big issue. The over all comedy from the other players was more kid friendly; however, I believe the harlem globetrotters should review Special K character.

    disappointed in globetrotters

by norene on 2010-04-09Copps Coliseum - Hamilton

I will start by telling you the positive. I purchased the magic pass which allowed us to go to a preshow from 530-6pm and there were only approx 25 people so my kids got to do one on one tricks with the globetrotters get autographs and be involved in the show. It was great but only 4 of the globetrotters participated in this part of the show. However, what we were really disappointed in was that BIG EASY and FLIGHT TIME were not there. BIG EASY and FLIGHT TIME were the reason the kids wanted to go and all the promo material (programs) highlight those 2 players and there journey on the Amazing Race which is why we were such big fans. It was not fair that they weren't there and if we had of known that we probably wouldn't have gone so I didn't think the advertising was fair.

    Harlem Globetrotters over rated

by Motherof3inOntario on 2010-04-09Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex - Kitchener

I thought the overall experience was a little lame for the age of my kids (11,9, and 9). I thought the storyline throughout the show was very amateur. A lot of the basketball moves were repetitive, so once you've seen one, you've seen them all. Perhaps 6 and under is a better target audience.

    Hamilton outclassed by Globetrotters

by Anonymous on 2010-04-09Copps Coliseum - Hamilton

I was very impressed with the show that was put on with the Globetrotters. I was diappointed at the attendance in Copp's. Poor turnout and a bit of an embarassment for the city, when we cannot pull more than a couple of thousand people to this venue.

    Harlem Globetrotters in Kitchener

by Eddie1969 on 2010-04-09Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex - Kitchener

The Harlem Globetrotters put on a good show. The show is full of funny moments as well as amazing tricks. Aside from the display of tricks, they also play another team for four quarters while making everyone laugh. This one our first time going to see the GT, so we did not know what to expect, but my kids and us kept laughing throughout the show, my sons are 4 and 9 and they both enjoyed it very much, there were laughing all the time. And at the end, we bought a basketball for $25 which was signed by 3 or 4 of the players. Getting an autograph was not too difficult in Kitchener on a Thursday night, the lineups were short in comparison to a bigger venue, it was about a 10 min wait per line, but the players were very friendly and accessible. This is a good family event. I definately recommend it to anyone with kids of ages 4 and above.

    Harlem Globetrotters were awesome!!!!

    by Chris55 on 2010-04-08Copps Coliseum - Hamilton

The best family event I have been to!!!!! As a child I remembered seeing the Globetrotters and how that experience was incredible. My children 11 an 5 had the best time ever. My childrens experience with seeing the Globetrotters will be everlasting and always bring happy memories. My daughter who is 11 just said to me,"they were fun and cool." My 5 year old said," they were great." He still can't get over how many players were willing to sign autographs in his program. They really include the audience in the show and every child a wonderful time. Next time their at Copps my family will be there.

    Globetrotters were great!

by kristismom on 2010-04-08Copps Coliseum - Hamilton

We took our 11 year old grandson. Great entertainment and good clean fun for the whole family. I remembered seeing the original Globetrotters when I ws very young and the experience stayed with me these 50 odd years. I would recommend the show to anyone. Not sure if it was the venue or what but I found the sound to be very garbled and could not understand everything that was being said.

Laughed til I cried at the Globetrotters

    by libbysmom1 on 2010-04-08Copps Coliseum - Hamilton

I had always wanted to take my kids to see the Globetrotters, but haven't had the opportunity until now. They are 16 and 18 now but we all had a blast. They are so talented and the Globies had me crying...they were so funny. I saw the Harlem Globetrotters when I was a kid and still remember parts of the show. I would recommend this show to people of all ages!!

    Globetrttoers are Great!

by TonyNelson on 2010-04-08Barrie Molson Centre - Barrie

The Harlem Globetrotters put on a fantastic show in Barrie on April 6, 2010. Our whole family really enjoyed the amazing skills and light hearted humour and our children asked if if we could go and see them again the next time they return! It was non-stop fun, even in the breaks.

    Globetrotters definitely trotting

by Sunao on 2010-04-08Copps Coliseum - Hamilton

I last saw the Globetrotters in 1975 and I suppose I should have known that no show can stay fresh this long. The show is skewed to a much younger audience than my young teenagers and so some of the "sideshows" were a little corny. None of the players have every played in the majors and the only "name" in tow was the coach who said and did nothing throughout the show. Though defiinitely talented as ballplayers, I think it should be made clear in the billing that these guys have never played with the pros. As I recall, that was the "magic" that kept the excitment going so many years ago. They've lost that edge. It's clear now that these guys are hired and trained specifically for this show. Some of them could never make the big "show," despite their showmanship. However, if your kids are 8-10 years old, they'll love it! Be prepared to spend $100 or more on balls and t-shirts though.

    Harlem Globetrotters was entertaining!

by WWEMom on 2010-04-08Copps Coliseum - Hamilton

Enjoyed the event with my 3 kids and 10-year old nephew. They had the opportunity to participate in a Dance a Thon during end of first quarter and meet the Globetrotters during half time. They said it was the best thing they have ever went to. Would recommend it to anyone.
