Already hoping for another tour!
by StrawberryLove on 2010-08-01First Avenue - MinneapolisI went to see Courtney for the first time on July 16, 2010. I became a Hole fan when I heard "Violet" at 11 years old (2002). She didn't disappoint. After doors opened at 10:00 pm, there was about a 45 minute wait until Foxy Shazam played their 45-minute set. After another grueling 80 minutes of standing in a tightly packed pit, alcohol flowing steadier than ever, the lights went out and some sort of Classical theme music came on. Courtney was in a very talkative mood and went on about living in Minneapolis through the late 1980s (topics included stripping, writing songs in a basement 6 blocks away, and almost losing her virginity in the bathroom at First Avenue). The set was rather short, I thought. It was mostly because Courtney was late, and she was in the mood to do another encore, but the stagehand said no. The show ended just after 2:00 am. I met Micko Larkin about 20 minutes after waiting outside, and after changing my mind on the first chance I had. I talked to him a little, and he hugged me 2-3 times in the one-minute window. I was very nervous, because I knew his playing from Larrikin Love, and he just touched my shoulder and called me "love" with his striking accent. I gave him a sudden kiss on the cheek when he hugged me before he went back into the venue. I had a great evening. I'll definitely go again, if another tour happens.
