    A giant (kissed) thumbs up

by Liquidrawhide on 2019-07-30L'Olympia - Montreal

The HDTGM tour made its first-ever "international" stop at a sold-out Olympia Theatre in Montreal as part of the 2019 Just For Laughs festival, and of all the shows I attended not only at that particular festival but of many others in recent memory, it was by far my favorite. The chemistry Paul, June, and Jason have not only with one another but also the entire audience is amazing, and makes a two(!)-hour experience fly by. From Paul fielding questions in the crowd to having fans come up on stage to deliver "second opinions" to the trio just riffing off the nature of certain attendees (we had a baby in the front row!), you really get the sense you're part of a community who share a common love of quirky humor, non sequiturs, and bad movies (in this case, the epic 1982 flop "Megaforce"). The tour seems to be selling out most everywhere it goes, and I can see why. For the value it delivers based on duration and entertainment, it's pretty tough to beat. Naturally I imagine the experience might not be quite the same if you don't bother watching the featured film to be discussed in advance (indicated on the HDTGM Web site), but even then, based on the enthusiasm and wit of the hosts involved, I'd be willing to bet you'd still walk away with a smile on your face
