    Idina Menzel....Incredible!

by redzone78 on 2014-08-21Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

I've been a long time fan of Idina, although I'd never seen her perform live. If/Then blew me away! Great story, amazing set, fantastic music, and, oh yeah, the incomparable Idina Menzel. Go see this before it closes (if it closes). You won't regret it. Plus, the theatre itself is beautiful, with not a bad seat in the house.

    Unbelievable!!! A must see musical

by MadgeDazeem on 2014-08-12Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

I've seen If/Then 4 times now, and each time I see it, there's always something new about it. Idina Menzel is funny, witty and vocally brilliant. It's the best musical I've seen on Broadway in a long time. It really isn't getting the credit it truly deserves. Go see this musical before it's too late!!!

    Best show I've ever seen!

by Imadiva on 2014-08-03Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

I am an avid theatre goer and have a Honours degree in performance from a reputable theatre school so I'm usually very picky and not very forthcoming on praise for shows. This show was truly spectacular and probably the best show I have ever seen! The cast was incredible, the music was brilliant, the entire show was funny and moving. I highly recommend this show!

    Worth seeing twice

by Ccarne2 on 2014-07-13Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

We flew to New York just to see this play so there was a lot of expectation--it did not disappoint! It was so incredible, we scrapped our plans for the next night and returned to see it again. The second time around was even better. It's one of those musicals in which you figure things out after the fact and then it all makes sense. Very satisfying! So you notice things you missed the first time around on the second night. It was amazing. Idina Menzel is of course incredible but so is the rest of the cast. The sets and the music are incredible as well. Definitely recommend it.

    Idina Menzell was AMAZING!

by Shsreh on 2014-07-11Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

This show has a unique plot that makes it interesting to watch. The show opens with the lead character, Elizabeth (played by Idina Menzell), in a position where she has to make a decision between two choices. The show then splits off to show her life as either "Liz" or "Beth" depending on which choice she made. I thought the dual story line was cleverly directed and held audience interest. What really stood out about this show was the female talent. Idina Menzell is the star of this show and she stood out. Her spectacular voice combined with her ability to convey raw emotion carried this show. Almost equally spectacular however were the supporting roles, Kate (played by LaChanze) and Anne (played by Jenn Colella), both of whom have incredible voices. The show was well worth the money to hear these three women sing. The second act wasn't as good as the first. The plot took a corny twist that I think cheapened the show. The music was unfortunately the weak point. There were only a couple of songs that really let Menzell show off the full range of her talent. It's a shame to have an incredible voice like hers on the stage and not to take full advantage of it. Some of the songs were great, some were fun, but others were boring or even annoying. Overall, I would go see this show again if only to get a second chance to see Idina Menzell perform. She is worth the ticket price alone. Add to it LaChanze and Colella and you really get a fantastic evening of entertainment even if the music lets the show down a bit.

Absolutely talented cast ! The show is great, has its funny and serious moments. Music is amazing. I especially enjoyed the use of lighting and the set design. Warning: this theatre only has one restroom located in the basement of the building. There are many stalls and the lines do go quick, but you should go before the show starts.

    If/Then deserves a Tony!

by Wallison on 2014-06-02Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

What a refreshing, adult, intelligent play! The acting was superb! Idina is so relatable! The music was excellent - could really hear the lyrics (which were so necessary to the understanding of the plot). The sets were crucial. This is the way musicals always were - when the story was developed through the lyrics of the songs. There was nothing flashy but always elegant. The play was unforgettable!

If/Then should be named never again

by Sheramble on 2014-05-20Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Not a musical that will stand the test of time! Beautiful voices for the most part but the story line was confusing and did not create any moments that actually caused me to examine any part of my humanity. The songs were gratuitous and did not propel the story to the next level.

I don't know where to start......

by Lola570 on 2014-05-04Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

this is probably the worst musical I've ever seen. I imagine the second the contracts are up for the cast, they will scatter as quickly as they can and the show will close. It's dreadful. I'm still laughing about one comment I read about it, "I'm in my 60s and my life is more interesting than these character's". I don't want to take anything away from a talented cast - they are fine - it's the show that's a dog. This was seen during our 7 day, 8 show vacation - and it was by far the worst show.

Great to see Idina Menzel and Anthony Rapp!

by johalfnote on 2014-04-22Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

In this contemporary musical about modern day New Yorkers, which focuses on Idina's character who contemplates choices she makes and the story unfolds with different takes on what happens based on her timing and choices. The score is from the composer of "Next to Normal" and has many high energy ballads. Enjoyable!

Not Broadway's best, but the woman can SING!

by jrandalls on 2014-04-21Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

By now we all know that Indina Menzel can sing. This show gives her plenty of opportunity to do it, although none of the tunes were particularly memorable. The storyline -- make that the parallel storylines -- were a bit difficult to follow, as Ms. Menzel and the cast switched between her character's life as "Liz" and life as "Beth." Even a theatre junkie like me had to stop and think several times to figure out which storyline was happening. Many devices in the writing or staging could have solved this, but the director didn't choose them. By the end -- which came about 30 minutes after it should have (someone needed an editor) -- I did find myself somewhat touched and caring for the characters, and wondering about the "what if's" of my own history. As I'm truly into musicals, this one was worth my time to see the great cast--the aforementioned Ms. Menzel, along with the very good Anthony Rapp and LaChanze.
