    Maiden rocked!

by slucky on 2010-06-25General Motors Place - Vancouver

The Dream Theater set was too short, but sounded awesome, I actually wanted to see them more than Maiden, only because I hadn't seen them live before. Iron Maiden of course was an epic show, they needed to play more tunes from some of their older albums, and the sound was hit and miss. Sometimes you couldn't hear Bruce Dickenson's voice at all, and the guitars at different times went from hardly there to crazy feedback loud. Overall an excellent experience. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

    Total Letdown

by Zargabaath on 2010-06-25General Motors Place - Vancouver

Never before have I seen a group that completely ignores nearly all of its major hits to play practically all its new stuff, which simply isn't close to the same quality as the old material. This was my first maiden concert, being one of the new fans that they wanted to cater to by playing their new music. For all the fans who had seen them play the same classics at shows previously it was likely a refreshing change; however, for many such as myself I was totally miffed about this change because I had never seen them play all their greatest hits live before, and I didn't pay $100 to go see iron maiden play ghost of the navigator and dance of death, I payed to see run to the hills, the trooper, 2 minutes to midnight which were all left off this setlist. If you're a fan of classic 80's maiden, steer clear of this tour. On a good note, dream theater was outstanding as an opener, playing all their greatest hits, but they should've had a larger time slot than 45 minutes

    Iron Maiden disappoints...

by Smeggy on 2010-06-25General Motors Place - Vancouver

Quite disappointing. Dream Theater was the better band, but they played for less than an hour, and had no video of them on the screen despite the fact that the cameras were set up and later used for Maiden. You'd think a band like that, around for 25 years, would be treated better than a cut rate opening band. Im an older school Maiden fan, havent listened to any of the newer stuff. And until the encore (only one encore) I didnt recognize any songs. When they finally kicked into Number of the Beast and Hallowed Be Thy Name, the vibe picked up noticably, but by then the concert was practically over. Couldnt believe they didnt mix a few oldies into the set earlier. And they should have come out for another encore to extend the momentum they finally had. The theatrics were also a little disappointing from such a big budget band. I saw TSO recently and the lasers, lights, explosions, etc were way better.

    All around good show.

by MaidenJapan on 2010-06-25General Motors Place - Vancouver

Overall, it was a good show, though it could have been a little longer. Good job touching on the various eras of Maiden's musical library. Acoustics could have been better. We were sitting side stage and the vocals were drowned out for the most part. Ticketless entry was a good system, but allowing only two gates for the entry, and unclear signage around the venue made for long line-ups to get in.

    Must See Metal

by Wickermannn on 2010-06-25General Motors Place - Vancouver

The show last night at GM Place was one of the best concerts I've been to yet. The energy Bruce Dickenson displayed was quickly transferred to the crowd. By the end of the concert few fans still had their voices from cheering, and singing along, at times drowning out the band during songs like Blood Brothers and other classics. A good mix of the old and the new, including their next hit El Dorado was enjoyed by fans from 6 to 60 and beyond. Great show, would go see them again at twice the price.

    Iron Maiden Iron Clad

by icymoon on 2010-06-25General Motors Place - Vancouver

Fantastic. Set was really balanced and lively. Mosh pits were violent, love it. Overall, give the concert an A and rank it in my top 5 concerts over the last 4 years. I would've given it an A+ if they've played "Run to the Hills", an all time hit sorely missed :(

    IRON MAIDEN WAS AWESOME!

by redstarsrbija on 2010-06-02Pengrowth Saddledome, Rexall Place - Calgary

I remember the first Iron Maiden song I ever listened to: The Wicker Man. This was way back in 9th grade when a friend told me to listen to it. Then back in 2008 that same friend hooked me up with BOX SEATS(FOR FREE!) directly across from the stage at the Saddledome! BY FAR THE GREATEST CONCERT I'VE EVER BEEN TO! Now, 9 years since being introduced to Iron Maiden and just over 2 years since that EPIC concert in 2008, I CANT WAIT for June 26th/27th because I bought tickets to both Alberta shows! I can hardly imagine the AWESOMENESS OF TWO BACK TO BACK MAIDEN CONCERTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! MAIDEN!!! MAIDEN!!! MAIDEN!!!

    Iron Maiden!!!!!!

by Slasher on 2010-04-23Saddle Dome / Rexall Place - Calgary / Edmonton

Took in both Alberta shows in 2008. Had upper deck tickets for Edmonton, binoculars helped bring that one closer. In Calgary I rolled the dice and went without a ticket. Found a floor ticket from a scalper who got into a bidding war with another scalper. I came out the winner as the first dude started at 250$! I payed 100$ when they were done under-cutting each other. Determined to make the most out of my good luck I managed to get around the center of the stage, row 4-5 all night! Had to leave during 'Rhyme of the ancient mariner' as all the head banging, moshing and thrashing about had me dehydrated. Returned to the same spot to finish up the concert. After once at my truck I noticed two globs of black goop that came out from behind my eyes! For years I figured industrial gunk had got into my eyes, the dehydration removed it and my eyes had not felt so good in years! Thank you Iron Maiden. I really enjoyed both shows and I will see you again on June 27th, Calgary Saddle dome, one more on the floor! Yippy ci eh!
