    Great Show

    by Jennifer on 2023-07-11

Great weaving of the songs from Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette into a cohesive story. Unfortunately the sound quality wasn't the best and my friends and I couldn't always understand the lyrics. The singing was not always well balanced with the band.

    last minute seating changes

by Everything is just fine fine fine on 2023-06-08National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

My family bought 6 tickets to the show in February. All of us were looking forward to attending. Unfortunately closing in on the day of the show and after a surgery one of our members was not in a position to be able to navigate the seating arrangements as per our tickets. We were considering not attending at all but, after speaking with the box office they managed to accommodate in the accessible seating area for that member and a companion seat which allowed that member to experience the show as they were very much looking forward to seeing it. This meant a lot to them and to our family.

    Sounds was off

by Broadway Girl on 2023-06-07National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Nice production unfortunately only heard 15% of the lyrics. There was an echo and when a group was singing it sounded like screaming at eachother. Audio left a lot to be perfected.

Good show. Brilliant choreography, terrible terrible sound, very muddy and unbalanced, missed much of the vocals.

    Good not great

by Big slick on 2023-06-07National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

To start, I thoroughly enjoyed this performance. So did my family. Like any good Canadian household, Alanis was big in our family, so there really wasn't anything that could keep us from enjoying ourselves. Therein (slightly) lies the problem. The singing ranged from meh to pretty good, but with Alanis' discography I was really waiting for a real wow moment. Which, as I stated, shouldn't have been hard to achieve. The dancing was okay, sometimes it seemingly took away from the overall performance though. The plot was good. I read some things about "wokeness" and blah blah blah, but alot of Alanis music really lent itself to the angtsy, social justice theatrics, so actually I quite enjoyed the imagination of it all and found the plot to be quite tight. Overall we loved it, but I just wonder how much of that is bias

    Horrible Sound

by Marc G. on 2023-06-07National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

We attended the show on Sunday June 4th at 1PM. This was our very first Broadway show. The show itself is quite amazing. The actors are superb. But the sound was horrible. Voices and instruments were cutting out and overpowering each other. The background singers were often washed out by the live band. Even the instruments from the band would wash out each other. HORRIBLE sound. Extremely dissapointing for a National Art Centre.

Only stayed for the first act.

by Deirdre on 2023-06-07National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

My daughter and I were really looking forward to this show. At the age of 8, it was the first concert she had attended. We did not like this play. The voices were hit-and-miss. The storyline had nothing to do with our interpretation of the music. A few interesting prop choices, like the desks on wheels. We left, disappointed.

    Entertaining and educational

by BG on 2023-06-07National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Amazing performance by singers and dancers. This musical highlights several societal issues that are often not talked about, but are becoming increasingly common/normalized in the media (addictions, sexual assault, racism, etc). There is just the right amount of comedy when discussing these themes. I would recommend this musical for everyone, especially families with teens.

    Fun, Empowering and Educational

by Julie on 2023-06-07National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

The musc was nostalgic, effective storyline and perfect message. It felt like a rock concert coupled within a musical.
