About
Jean Dawson on Tour
A mix of hip-hop and alternative music collide with the genre-bending, Mexican-American artist Jean Dawson. His musical style of hip-rock paired with his descriptive lyrics create a beautifully mixed soundscape. Following the release of his 2022 album, CHAOS NOW*, Dawson is set to commence his 24-stop Chaos Now* tour across the United States and Canada. Dawson's live performances are filled with positive energy with the unique listening experience containing the best of hip-hop, alternative, rock, and trap music. First emerging onto the music scene with his 2019 EP Bad Sports, Dawson continued to blur musical genres with his debut 2020 album, Pixel Bath, and sophomore 2022 album CHAOS NOW*.
Jean Dawson Live in Concert
Born in Tijuana, Mexico, Dawson is Black and Hispanic. Eventually moving to San Diego, Dawson was introduced to hip-hop at a young age by his parents. Over the years, his musical influences ranged from hip-hop legends Kanye West and Jay-Z to alternative icons Bon Iver and Frank Ocean. With help from producer Lecx Stacy, Dawson released his first EP, Bad Sports, in 2019. In his debut album, Pixel Bath, Dawson's track "Triple Double" included a feature from hip-hop superstar A$AP Rocky. Dawson also incorporates his ethnic background into his music, singing in both English and Spanish. Since the genre within which his music falls is fluid and can't be tied down to one single genre, Dawson hasn't found it easy to find his niche. In an interview with VICE Dawson said, "I don't get on the rap playlists because I make s*** with guitars, but I don't get the rock playlists, because I'm Black ... So I'm in this weird space that doesn't exist yet." While fans have been flocking to his music and shows, Jean Dawson maintains more than 700,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, with his most popular songs "Triple Double" and "Power Freaks," combining for more than 13 million streams.
