About

JENN GRANT IN CONCERT:

Canadian singer-songwriter Jenn Grant has become a folk-pop sensation with her honey-toned voice, soulful sound, and heartrending lyrics. Her lush, lulling compositions are perfectly suited for her intimate live shows, where she delivers bittersweet tunes like "I've Got Your Fire" and "The Fighter" with an understated intensity that always leaves fans in awe. An accomplished performer who has graced festival stages around the world, Grant continues to enthrall with her authentic music and powerful voice on tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in 1980 on Canada's Prince Edward Island, Jenn Grant began performing music during her teens before a bout of stage fright led her to pursue a career in painting. After receiving a fine arts degree from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, she returned to music in her early 20s. In 2005 she independently released the EP Jenn Grant and Goodbye Twentieth Century, a strong debut that demonstrated her immense songwriting talents.  She continued to hone her sound with the albums Orchestra for the Moon (2007) and Echoes (2009), and in 2011 she made a critical breakthrough with her third album Honeymoon Punch. The album 's more upbeat pop sound proved popular with audiences too, earning her a nomination for Alternative Album of the Year at the 2012 Juno Awards. The accolades continued to roll in with her fourth album The Beautiful Wild (2012), which won Pop Recording of the Year at the 2013 East Coast Music Awards and contained the award-winning single "I've Got Your Fire". A thoughtful and emotional performer with a voice as inspiring as it is heartbreaking, Grant continues to impress on her unforgettable concert tours.

    JENN GRANT IS THE BEST!!!

    by nicole on 2024-02-17

Had an amazing time at one of her toronto shows. She is such a fun, kind and passionate person and it shows throughout her performance. She’s funny & loves to interact with her audience. The other musical artists she had with her were incredible as well. You could tell everyone was so happy to be there performing. I will definitely have to see her again if she comes back to toronto :)

    Great performer, hilarious entertainer!

by Jonathan on 2023-06-27The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Jenn Grant has one of the most beautiful voices in the Canadian music scene! She performs with so much enthusiasm and joy, much better than her recorded tracks (please make a live album). Her stories are funny and engaging. She performed with some of the best backup musicians, from Amy Milan to Aquaculture to Kevin Drew!

    Jenn Grant at the NAC

by BBCT on 2014-12-02National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

She has such a wonderful voice I only wonder how magical the night could have been for me as unfortunately I found the sound system for her part of the concert very poor. I much preferred listening to the CD when I got home as I was better able to make out the lyrics and hear the strength of her voice.

    Mixed feelings

by Anonymous on 2014-11-16Park Theatre - WINNIPEG

I have mixed feelings because one Jenn Grant was amazing as always. It doesn't just take a beautiful voice to captivate the audience but also the relationship they create with the audience. Jenn is a pro at interacting with the crowd, getting them involved, Makin them laugh and also Makin the audience feel as though she wants to be there performing. I feel like Matthew was lacking in that respect. My first thought was how the band members looked like robots, as though they were just going through the motions of another concert. I can understand how tiring it must be to tour and perform but at the same time People are paying to see you. I almost fell a sleep a few times during Matthew because the energy was so low. My only other complaint is how the shows seem to be advertised. This is the second Jenn Grant show I have been too where it seems to be advertised as her being the main act and then it turns out otherwise. Which is really disappointing. If the add says "Jenn Grant with Matthew Barber" my impression is matthew barber is the opening act not visa versa. I hope future shows will be re thought in terms of advertisement. Is love to see Jenn as the main act. Thank you Folk Fest for putting on these shows I truly appreciate it.

    Awesome venue, alright show

by sgtp on 2012-11-26Winter Garden Theatre - Toronto

Jenn Grant (who I'd never heard before) put on an incredible show. The set was great, her music fun and heartfelt. It was about my tenth time seeing Cuff the Duke-and a total disappointment. They played for slightly over an hour, and almost exclusively music from their last 2 albums. There was nothing from the first 2 albums, which, in this oooold fan's view, were the best of the them. The Winter Garden is one spectacular theatre.

Jenn Grant is a talented woman.

by HeeDee on 2012-11-26Winter Garden Theatre - Toronto

Complete vocal control; seasoned performer, strong songwriting skills and thought-provoking songs. I would request an additional acoustic performance in the set somewhere bc the audience was able to hear her voice very differentlty on eye of the tiger and I wanted more.

Jenn Grant was quirky and still soulful

by Carleneruns on 2012-11-19National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

This was my fourth time seeing Jenn Grant and my first time at the Fourth Stage at the NAC. Loved the venue. It was the perfect place to see Jenn. Would definitely return to see her there any time. The sound quality was excellent and the intimate venue really enjoyable and relaxing. Jenn played songs from her latest album The Beautiful Wild and it was a terrific concert. Loved the whole thing.
