John Scofield / Mike Stern killed

by cdn3034 on 2010-07-01The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

2 awesome guitarists with killer bands for the price of one! Stern is a headliner in his own right... and he opened for Scofield! nuff said. just too bad they didn't team up on a tune or 2

    versatility on display

by bohemian13 on 2010-07-01The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

apparently effortless as he displayed a diverse approach to numbers covering black gospel, r & b, traditional & innovative jazz chords & progressions, john scofield never settled exclusively into one genre. Sometimes one had to almost strain to pick out his work as he plays, like Dylan of old, facing his band rather than the audience - a shame because one never gets to see the fingers fly over the frets as w/the opening guitarist - Meyer who interacted with the audience. Remarkably tight arrangements and a great pianist/keyboardist - John Cleary. The board man did a great job and the venue's acoustics made it possible to clearly and sharply hear every musicians notes.

    Mike Stern is unbelievable!

by Guitarlover on 2010-06-30The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

When he gets into his groove, he captivates the audience. Heads bobbing throughout the crowd! And he has so much fun performing - the audience was appreciative and he had a smile on his face whenever they did. Scofield was great too!
