Kevin Gates, born Kevin Gilyard, grew up on the streets of Louisiana finding solace in music by penning lyrics at a young age. After spending years honing his craft, Gates released his debut mixtape Pick Of Da Litter in 2007. Although it wasn't an initial hit, the album sparked several more releases and attracted attention from big-time artists like Lil' Wayne. The up-and-coming rapper has been on the rise ever since, collaborating with Wiz Khalifa and Juicy J on his 2013 mixtape Stranger Than Fiction and having music featured on Rolling Stone's 100 Best Songs of 2013 list.
